9 years!!!

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Today’s workout was pretty cool. I really like rack deads because you can do a lot of weight and make a lot of noise (yes attention whore). I was getting pretty riled while doing the deads because there was some guy standing maybe 15 feet away complaining about how dumb Congress is and how our President needs to straighten them out. I won’t get all political here, but I will say I don’t think our President is a very good leader and the idea of him straightening anyone out is nearly laughable.

Anyhoo, onto more important subjects.  Today is the anniversary of my first date with my wife!  Nine years ago today, we went to see an Adam Sandler movie (Big Daddy).  I think it took about 2 months before I started telling some of my friends I knew eventually I’d marry her.  :)   I remember she was sweet, funny, and sort of shy (but not so shy with a drink or two in her, LOL).  Her long blonde hair and stunning green eyes kept me enthralled all night.  I remember the electricity that shot through my body everytime I "accidentally" touched her hand while reaching for the Junior Mints or felt her hair on my cheek as she whispered something to me in the theater.  I remember we talked about her going back to school and her family.  I remember having our ID’s checked (for a PG-13 movie?) because we supposedly looked to young.  :)   It was the opening weekend for the movie and the theater was really crowded, so I’m not really sure why we were singled out.

It was a great night and it seems like it was just yesterday.  I can’t believe it’s been 9 years!  (I wonder if I’ll be saying that when it’s 15 or 20 years.  LOL!)

Jay 1 Caffeine 0

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

So far, so good with the caffeine thing. I haven’t really even noticed the elimination of 100g of caffeine from my daily intake. (OK, so that’s only 25%, but it’s still something.)   I am thus relieved as I keep expecting excrutiating headaches and sleepiness. So far, I’m no more sleepy than usual.  (OK, so I’m usually very chipper and no sleepy at all.  Well, I’m sort of sleepy late in the evenings, but that’s just before bed time so it doesn’t count.)  :)

I have an amazing amount of DOMS today from yesterday’s workout.  Does this mean that the heavy lifting sort of de-trained my muscles for higher rep work and now I’m feelin’ it because of that detraining? Would that help me grow? (I’m just thinking out loud here - errr, thinking out typing? maybe thinking via typing?  Something like that.)

Anyway, it’s Thursday and a HIIT day. My wife got up early and was amazed I seemed so quick to recover from my workout.  I love the early AM!

I believe I also forgot to mention that I was up another pound this week.  YAY!  I can’t believe how difficult it is to add lean mass.  Of course, anything worth having requires intense effort.  :)
