Maybe it’s a river

Today I offer true stream of consciousness….

For some reason, I haven’t been keeping track of my PR’s for lifting. I don’t know why, I just don’t. I suppose I should, but it seems the results of said lift should be more important than the lifting itself. PR for quads would be sweet.

Odd stuff at the gym today. There were people there: maybe 10. They were there when I got there and then left after I was there for about 5 minutes. I guess I scared them away?

Then there was the leg press. This was just crazy. I load up the leg press (7 plates per side) because I felt like I was pretty warmed up from the deads. Well, I get all pumped up and bring the weight off the safeties only to have my toes suddenly jerk forward and my calves tense up. I re-racked the weight without problem, but I seriously thought this machine was just going to fall apart. I pictured the top of the sled spinning off and all that weight coming slamming down on the back of my hams. So, I investigate further. Apparently someone had removed a bolt and loosened the other two that attached the foot plate onto the bar. Basically, this allowed the foot plate to rotate around that bar. Two thoughts - someone is an a$$ and deserves to be pummeled for messing with the equipment like this or someone was doing some sort of maintenance and deserves to be pummeled for not restoring the machine to full-working order before leaving. I talked to one of the gym peeps and they put a sign on the machine. It’s not a big deal - there is another one right next to it - but it sure would suck if something bad happened….

It’s a cheat night tonight!!  I’m having an "after the little guy goes to bed" date with my wife: a DVD, some wine, & a sampling of cheeses with various carby snacks and some fresh fruits & herbs.  I understand goat cheese & chives goes well on a baguette with a glass of red zin? ;)

Wow, that’s really scary about the leg press! Considering both scenarios, the person who did that was a jerk!! I’m glad you’re okay :/

And enjoy your date!! Zin has too much kick for me, but mmm, wine and cheese…. you’re evil for mentioning it! ;)
