January - December on Bodyspace
I’ve noticed something interesting in my time here on Bodyspace. There is a natural ebb and flow to the goals and motivations of the bb.com’ers as a whole. My observations are most certainly biased by the fluctuations of my own motivation (and the occasional lack of calories).
However, here they are:
- Early January: Most people are very excited about “getting down to business” with new goals and lots of enthusiasm.
- Late January - February: Enthusiasm turns into a disdain for clean eating and confessions of falling off the wagon. Many people leave. Those that stay through February tend to be here the longest.
- March-April: Lots of people are beginning to cut here for the summer season. This leads to lots of posts about eating clean, fat burners, and cardio. A lot of newbs seem to join and post at this time.
- May-June: Those who weren’t talking about fat burners before, most certainly are now. Everyone is comparing abs and talking about tanning products. Still lots of people logging on to check out the best way to look hot for swimsuit season.
- July-August: Lots of new pictures surface as people hit peak low bf% and have great tans. Everyone looks hot. Not a lot of posting in comparison to the winter, though. It seems that many of those who joined in May-June tend to stop posting and are never heard from again.
- September-October: Everyone seems to be talking about putting on muscle. Supplement talk turns to protein-type comparisons, creatine, NO products, and getting “swole”. The usual goal is something like 20lbs of muscle before the new year.
- November-December: Holiday season means everyone talks about cheat meals, how hard it is to eat clean around the holidays, and more talk about bulking supps - usually related to how much protein is in turkey and if tryptophan will really put you to sleep.
There you have it, my calendar year of bb.com in a nutshell. Let’s see how close I am as the year moves forward.
Note: this is an attempt at light-hearted humor. Please do not take offense to my silliness. Carb-depravity has deeply affected me.
