So, 2008 starts in my workout calendar on Monday. (Does that make any sense?)
I love the new year. It’s exciting to think about what will come. It’s neat to imagine the possibilities, to think about what can be, what will be. I love reading about everyone’s new goals, about their new workout plans, the new diets, and the new motivation. It’s fun to feed off that energy.
Of course, it is also sad to think that so many of the "new" people are going to fail. They don’t have to, but that slump in February or March is such a motivation killer for so many. What we need is something like a monthly push to get in shape. For example, January is pushed by the new year. Maybe there should be some hype about being sexy and hot for Valentine’s Day on the 14th. Then there’s Easter in March / April. Maybe the easter bunny needs scantily clad helpers like sexy Santa’s helpers.
Then the bathing suit season arrives in North America and I think that motivates a lot of people. I mean, who doesn’t like getting admiring looks at the beach? (Let’s stop at the looks, though, OK stalker people.)
Then maybe it’s time to look good for going back to school for the young and looking good for the extra time you have now that your kids are back in school for the older crowd!
Then there is Halloween and you know you want to look hot in your skimpy Halloween costume. I mean, sexy pirates don’t wear a lot of clothing and the Hulk is hard to pull off with 12" arms.
Finally, we run into November and December again with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Well, I don’t know about you, but it felt awesome to hear so many people say how much bigger I looked this year after not seeing me for so long. When someone was asking my wife for sizes so they could get me clothes as a Christmas gift, it was interesting to hear her report back about how everyone noted the changes for the better.
That is motivation, too!
There it is, a year in motivation. Now, let’s get ripped & sexy. Meet me back here in a year and bring pictures.
