a long day & bulking up again

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

So, let’s see how long it will take for me to get back to 156lbs!  My goal is 31-December-2006.  I think that is feasible: 12lbs in ~18weeks.  I think that is mostly feasible because a good portion of that will be simply replacing the muscle I lost due to the shoulder surgery.  The good news is: more food for me! :)

Today is going to be a long day at work, so I’ll add another clean meal in and try not to cheat.  That is always rough when you change your routine.  It takes some serious will-power not to eat just whatever is available, but I know in the long run it will be worth it (for my general health and for reaching my goals).  Anyway, the important thing is that I will get in plenty of protein!!

back in the gym: chest & shoulders

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

I was able to really lift weight today!  It’s been 2.5 months since I was last in the gym on my own lifting weight (ie not in PT with a therapist hovering), so this is a big accomplishment.  There was no pain, just some tightness.  I didn’t push myself, but I could still feel some burning in the muscles.  Overall, it was just nice to be there.  For reference, here are the exercises I did with no pain:

  • bench: 1×30x40lbs (bar only), 1×25x50, 1×20x60, 1×15x70, 1×15x80
  • decline db flies: 2×30x10lbs
  • flat bench db flies: 2×30x10lbs
  • internal / external rotation: 3×30x20lbs (pulley)
  • machine military press: 1×30x20lbs, 2×25x40lbs
  • lateral raises: 1×30x10lbs, 2×20x15lbs
  • front raises: 3×20x10lbs
  • seated laterals (leaning forward): 2×20x5lbs
  • No Comments.
