Thursday update

Today’s workout: (let’s pretend it’s worthy of being called that, shall we?)

  • 5 sets of stretches for shoulder (30s)
    -pendulums
    -while lying in supine position, use left hand to pull right hand to 120deg above head (180 being raised straight up above)
    -while lying in supine position with right elbow flexed to 90 degrees (hand pointing upward), use left hand to push right hand laterally while keeping elbow tucked to body. Goal is 45 degrees.

Nutrition (plan for today):

  • Meal1: milk / whey / multivitamin
  • Meal2: eggs / fruit / green tea
  • Meal3: oatmeal / beef / fruit
  • Meal4: steak/ salad / whole wheat bread / veggies
  • Meal5: whey / milk / EFA’s

Active Recovery Day 1 - (yesterday)

This was supposed to be posted last night, but I never got around to hopping on the internet.  So, imagine that this is 24hours ago. :)

Today was the beginning of what I imagine will be a 7-12 month recovery and triumphant return to, well, where I was two weeks ago (or better).  I have an assignment of passive stretches and I started cardio today.  My ROM is nil and I won’t even begin to quantify the strength in my right (dominant) arm for at least another three weeks.

Seeing the pictures from my surgery was somewhat sobering.  My labrum was not only torn from the bone, but was literally shredded.  My surgeon seemed to think I should have a full recovery but qualified that I would have to work for it.

Today’s workout:
20mins AeT recumbant bike (ho-hum)

Pre w/o: 1/2 scoop purple wraath
Peri w/o: 1/2 scoop purple wraath
Post w/o: whey/milk/dextrose
Meal: yogurt / fruit
Meal: oatmeal / beef
Meal: pork chops / salad / brown rice
Meal: whey / milk / EFA’s
