Inspirational Profiles

Ok, so I just had a well respected, "popular" person on here ask that I add them to my inspirational profiles list.  WTF is that….am I the only one that thinks that’s messed up??  Seems that it just justifies the thought that the list is just another popularity pole?  I’m sorry, there area a lot of people on here that have done great things with their health and physique, but inspire is a big word….it takes a lot to make me feel inspired.  For me, inspiration has always came from humble origins…..if you are asking others to be inspired by you, that’s anything but humble.  Sry, had to vent….didn’t want to be an ass and post my thoughts on the persons message board, though they are free to comment on this blog if desired.

Being deeply moved by someone’s courage and accomplishments would be a great definition of inspiration.
When bb.com first came out with this, I thought, WOW, finally something refreshing and uplifting. But unfortunately, it has been spoiled by some.

Thank you for touching my life.

TY for your venting! I totally agree with you regarding being inspired by someone. I don’t appreciate being asked either and it seems that when there’s a contest of some kind that’s when people decide they want to stop by and say "hello"!, people who normally didn’t give me the time of day! Have a great night!!

I wrote a similar blog myself a little while back. Inspiration is a word with a lot of depth. Unfortunately its meaning is being diminished by those who would use it for popularity or to further their financial gains. Soon it will be as over-used as the word Hero has been.

INSPIRATION: a divine influence, action or power of moving the intellect or emotions.

Thanks for saying what many of us are thinking.

I too have had the same thing happen to me. I have had random members who have no clue who I am, nor do I know them ask to be added. Sorry to say but Body Space has become another MYSPACE. I thought this was about sharing knowledge, experiences, changes, fears, and accomplishments. I have become less and less "inspired" by all the B.S. that is on this site. Keep it real man and thanks for sparking some true insperation of what used to be.

*Sigh* I was sorry to read your blog - it’s too bad that there are those who feel everything is about popularity otherwise they wouldn’t be asking to be added to your list of inspiring members. Hang in there, add only when and if you feel justified in doing so and keep this new feature as pure as possible.

You said it best….as did everyone that has replied to your post. Interesting isn’t it the lengths people go. Defeinitely FAR from inspiring.
