Common Cold aka Workout Damper - Rest or Train Intensely (My opinion / giv
December 19, 2007My Comments Before My Opinion
I can take a lot of punishment to my body. In fact (although it may be strange) I absolutely love it. The pain, dedication, and results is what it is all about. When I was boxing, the pain from coach hitting me in the gut as I passed him in ring doing side circles dedicatied me to train harder, longer, and give me a “that all you got” mind set…However, the common cold, the exception, absolutely puts me against the ropes begging for no more beating. To me, it feels like getting destroyed in the first round of a big fight… You know you can win with time, but until then you are hurting, distorted, and waiting for your relief.
My Opinion
Most people (including Dr.’s) say rest for a couple of days to recover. Me? I say F that. Work, train, and show that cold virsus that it picked the wrong host on the wrong day. Get your blood pumping and sweat! “No thanks, I will just rest instead.”, I can hear you already, but try it. Let that cold know who Big Daddy (or Mama) is in the relationship. Why would you just lay there in bed or wherever and just give up on your fight, letting the virsus “walk all over you (better yet,in you)”. Think about it this way, you probably feel a lot worse when you wake up in the morning than you do after being up for a few hours. Before you wake up you are a still, silent, and easy target to use.. I think you should go all out (as much as possible… it will not be your best of course) and do work. What do you all think? What is your cold remedy? What do you do while sick? Why?
What Artillery Do I Bring To The Frontline?
1) Sleep (at night not day)
2) Steam Room
3) Hot Shower
4) Lots of Water
5) Vitamin C
6) Energy Drinks (caffine helps with headaches plus gets you a little more awake)
7) Feed my working body
8) L-Glutamine
9) Humidifier
10) SUCK IT UP AND DO WORK! Make yourself go and train! (No more laying around helpless… It is not going to be enjoyable.. Honestly it will be miserable, but so is laying around feeling bad with an one-way “I feel bad” attitude.)
