So I just got back from my competition. Yep I’ve gained a lot of weight in less than a week. If you think about it though the time span that I’ve been dieting goes back over a year. I started at 170-185.
The past couple days I’ve just loaded up on bread, some choc, sodium and had a couple beers. It made me also realize how much I don’t miss junk food. I feel horrible after eating it. I can’t wait to get back in the gym.

One week out and everyone is asking… How do you feel? Are you nervous? I think I would be nervous if I didn’t feel prepared. So no I am not nervous. Just anxious. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. I’ve worked incredibly hard for this.
No one can deny me that but I’m curious how judges will take a girl with some muscularity. The issue can be polarizing outside the realm of bodybuilding. And of course as always, subjective.
So with minor details to take care of… the usual i’s to dot, t’s to cross, my time is limited but peaceful. Say a little prayer for my sanity as I embark on a week with dozens of other crazy women… Just a different kind of crazy for the others.

Yesterday afternoon I was moe-zying around the gym between sets and lone behold in the cardio room was this chick tearing it up with a jump rope. She had one of those old school leather ones… Rocky style. Spinning in circles, varying speeds, legs in every direction with an iPod plugged just in her own world… and she was smokin hot. Not like in a typical cardio bunny chick way. She was raw. About 5′10", long lean legs, big curly brown hair pulled back, dark skin… just exotic meets bad a$$. Settle down now. I don’t have those tendencies but if I did… she would be a canidate. She must have been in there a good half hour just going as hard as she could. Pretty cool. You just don’t see athletes like that around here.
Anyways she inspired me to pick up a jump rope today and have fun with it. It was always a chore in the past. A necessary evil… but I ended up going for over 35 minutes with it! I started out doing 1 min on, 30 sec off, 2 min on, 30 sec off… so on up to a full 8 minutes of rope. Just moving around the cardio room, trying out new stuff. I love it!!!! I could get lost in it. I just need to make sure I don’t burn myself out on it. I think I might try it out as my new morning fasted cardio routine. I can push myself and don’t spend the first 10 min of my workout trying to wake up.
… Just thought I’d share

This morning all my favorite people seemed to be at the gym… The grunting competition was on. The weights slamming was in high gear. It seemed like every person throughout the week I dreaded coming within 5 feet of was at the gym. Must be the crappy weather we’re getting. Here’s a nice recap:
- The fish that bring the pool back to the locker room making the floor more like a slip and slide… ever heard of a towel?
- The creepy women in the locker room that stare intently at you as you change.
- The people that like to come up to you in the middle of an intense set and start talking to you… and then act pissed when you tell them (out of breath) that you didn’t hear a damn thing they said.
- Classes were full this morning as the obese acted like stretching was putting them through brutal pain. An hour of arm circles can really wear you out
.
- Ooooh and then you have the trainer that doesn’t have a clue giving me their resume on what an incredible athlete they used to be. Wanna arm wrestle?
- My favorite was the guy on the pulley opposite from me that was grunting loudly as he twisted 50lbs then slams the weight down as I am in the middle of a set completely rocking the equipment… He hadn’t even broken a sweat (you know he had a waist belt on too).
- The moms on the recumbant bike with their romance novels… Hey it’s gotta be there break from the kids so I’m not irritated at seeing them. I just hope they aren’t complaining about their bodies later. It makes me smile.
- To finish her off we have the overzealous jerks that get on the treadmill next to me… watching my incline/speed/time. Get up there, try to go harder for about 5 minutes (continuously watching me adjust) then kank and move to the elliptical.
- Oh wait then you have the cardio bunnies on the elliptical worrying more about their hair and shorts being hiked high enough. I know you boys don’t mind but let’s just say these bunnies ate one-too-many of their chocolate siblings last month.
It was quite the show. I have to admit with all of them their today I felt like I was more amidst a circus than a gym.
Core and cardio were on the list of to-do today. Check.

So I’ve been pushing incredibly hard in the gym this week. Going heavy just before I start toning up… Every time I finish a workout I’m shaking. There’s no slacking off here. I’m confused though as to why I’m not ridiculously sore the next day or two afterwards.
Am I doing something wrong? I’m tired/exhausted and usually really tight for a few days afterward but that’s it. I love being sore (and miss it) so I’m confused.

So my body is just plain exhausted. Tired, weak… I just laid down in the floor of my living room today when I got home. Didn’t even make it to the bed. I’ve been going hard at 3-a-days. Fasted cardio in the morning, workout in the afternoon with HIIT style cardio and more cardio/ light weight training at night. The last session is just to get me where I am now… worn out. I have a love/hate relationship with the feeling though. Have started doing yoga 3xs a week. Still can’t assess whether it helps. Sure is good meditation practice though.
No one ever told me carb cycling was so hard! It baffles me that I can eat the same number of calories and have completely different energy levels during a workout. I’m on a cleanser right now and it’s not doing much except making me constipated. LOL
I am big fish, small pond. I’m creeped out by the attention but if I keep a straight face/ high intensity the boys seem to quit getting the balls to ask for my number… and get out of my way. That’s part of the gym drama for your mama comment left last time. I love the big pond. Get in. Get out.
Time for my 6 o’ clock meal
