Life As Planned?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I make an effort to set a POA for myself at least once weekly….I also teach my clients to do the same. BUT, I almost never make it though more than 1 or 2 days sticking to that plan. “LIFE happens” and I am forced to adjust. None the less, having a POA is priceless~ especially when you are actually able to stick to it!

This week I’ve amazed myself, I’ve actually stuck to the POA I set out and feel so accomplished! That get’s me wondering WHY? What am I doing this week that’s different than most?? The answer is simple, I am NOT trying to do EVERYTHING at once. I am not over scheduling myself and not putting pressure on myself to DO IT ALL for once. I attribute this to my DH~ who is trying to keep me in my “vacation” mindset until Jan 1. AND to a audio book I recently listened to “the 4-hour work week” that taught to NOT MULTI TASK– I am soooo guilty of trying to multi task all the time! I can’t even JUST PEE~ I have to drink a glass of water WHILE I am on the toilet. I can’t go tanning and just tan…I’ll tan and talk on the phone at the same time, etc….
I handle it well most of the time, but I see the value to NOT MULTI-TASKING also. So…I am going to try to do less multi-tasking as the new year arrives. Maybe its a lesson I need to learn, lol!

Anyhow…enough about that!
I had a great back, should, bi and 20 mins stair mill workout yesterday.
Then today I lifted Chest, tris, did some abs and 14 min elliptical and ran 8 mins.

It was good and I am excited for my leg workout tomorrow!
See you then,
Love!!

Back to Business!

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Happy Monday~ Can you believe that I am actually relieved to be BACK to Business as usual? I am…not because I love working but because I have a lot of work to get done and it’s less stressful to actually DO IT than trying to forget it.

So…on tap for today is to get a ton of e-mails sent out and attack my ACCOUNTING! I am not sure how much I’ll get done with 4 kids home and all the chaos that goes along with that. I also am going too post some fun announcements in the Rally Room~ the winner to the Super Star Success contest FINALLY! and the voting for winner to the Six Weeks 2 Sexy will begin this week too– look for a poll about that.

Yesterday I ran outside for the FIRST time since probably August! I didn’t go too far, or too fast but it felt good to actually DO IT!

Let’s all strive to get things DONE today~ including our workouts…this is going to be a GREAT Week!!
Rock it!!

It is SOOOO worth it!

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Hey Ya’ll…
Just thought I’d report in really quick. Life is so GREAT!! God is so good~ I just wanted to share with all of you that DREAMS do come true and Miracles do happen! Keep shooting for your dreams and go after your passions; it’s fun and exciting to see DREAMS become a reality. EVERY day in my life I get the goosebumps when I stop and reflect on how I am living a DREAM and on how many wonderful friends I’ve made along the way– God has blessed me so much. Even though it takes hard work and sacrifice to reach your goals, it is 150% worth it! TRUST me! IT is SOOOO worth it!

I am feeling GREAT! c-4 here and my fog is gone, my focus, energy, confidence and motivation are HIGH! Yesterday, I had a good workout…AND I RAN!!! went running I probably ran for a total of 7 mins (2 mins at a time) and my knee felt good and was just a bit sore last night. SO…I’ll do it again tomorrow.
In total yesterday I did 45mins of cardio….and some odd and ends of lifting:
lat pulls
Bulgarians
push ups
standing calf raises
abs on ball

Today, I am heading to the gym to do legs and then get a massage. smile

FUN stuff!!!
Gotta go~ I’ve got a blessed life to live!

Your friend,
Michelle

Planning on having an AMAZING week!

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Hey Ya’ll!!!

This week is going to be AMAZING!! I am fired up and spent a little time this morning WRAPPING my brain around the week. I also bought some Audio books for my I-phone…I’d been meaning to do that for some time and hope some of the books I got will be enjoyable to listen to!

Gracie’s birthday yesterday was fun! We went to FAST Lanes-and indoor fun/amusement place– the kids played games, drove go-carts and we all bowled! It was a good day!

Now for another couple of “AsK BuffMother!” Q&A’s:

Q:

Is it possible to do hormonal timing with no period?

Michelle! Long time no see huh? I am wanting to get started with the hormonal timing again and was curious if it is possible to do the hormonal timing without a period. I am breastfeeding my daughter and I am assuming that I won’t get my period back until I quit…at least that is how it was with my son. Should I still be experiencing period like symptoms even though I am not getting it? Is what I should be paying attention to in terms of knowing when to boost and cut?

A:
YES!
Even though you don’t really have a normal cycle a this point so….go ahead and start buffing for 2 weeks followed by boosting.
In all honesty HT will work even without aligning it with your hormones, however when you do line it up with hormones it becomes at least 3x’s as effective.
Go for it!! – Michelle

Q:
Question for Michelle: Buffing & Boosting??

I’ve seen a lot of ppl use the term ‘buffing’ and ‘boosting’ here and I would really like to know what it means? Would you be able to explain it to me if you have the time Michelle? Thank you

A:
Buffing and Boosting are the terms I use for the 2 phases of the month when training using Hormonal Timing.
It would be very hard to describe the entire program her in a comment….
But the first thing you need to do is CHART your hormonal cycle and symptoms,
From there you break up your “month” into 2 phases: Buffing- typically cycle day 5-18; Boosting- c-day 19-18, 1-4
Then you work WITH your body to get GREAT results and a BUFF body, lol!
Buffing generally is GO time–intense workouts, more cardio, less food, less carbs
Boosting is generally maintenance time- time to focus on building muscle, fueling your body a bit more with a few more carbs and focusing on STILL getting it done, despite your hormones causing you to feel icky.
Hope that helps a bit,
Michelle

~~~~~~
Well part of my amazing week is going to include workouts~btw yesterday was c-1…so I am transitioning from boosting to buffing this week! The yay yippee guy I can’t wait to feel more focused again!!
Here is my POA for workouts:
M-cardio; lift upper body (chest mostly)
T- cardio; lift lower body
W- cardio; lift back mostly
Th-cardio
F-morning wake up cardio
Sa-off- My Niece’s wedding!!!
Sun-lift chest/tri/ intervals
That’s more cardio than usual for me, but it’s a weird week and I won’t be able to lift like usual, so that’s why more cardio.
Let’s be AMAZING this week,
Michelle
Fab Friday!
Friday, December 12th, 2008
Fab Friday to you!!!
NO matter what’s going on Friday always seems to be the BEST day of the week!  I am on fire today and happy~
But my plans had to be adjusted a bit today~ DS is home sick.  Poor guy has a bad sore throat and a bit of the body flu.  He is almost never sick, so it is odd for me to have him home today.
Anyhow, since I am home bound, I’ve spent a bit more time cleaning today than I wanted and working to return some e-mails.  I figured since I’ve been answering a bunch of questions in e-mails, that I’d share a couple of those “Q and A’s” every now and then  with  you (btw- names have been altered for privacy):
Question:
Michelle,
I received your book and of-course I love it…but I had a questions about my situation.
I want to get a program from you in the future, I want to compete again in some physique competitions. I trained for a show for 12weeks and won my competition but I lost my period about  1 1/2 months into it. Well I have not gotten it back. I am not sure where to start on the vitamins….do I start with the buffering or the boosting? Please help me to understand a little bit more?
thanks,
Reba
Answer:
HI Reba,
Training the “regular” way for a contest is so very hard on a woman’s body and her hormones.
I’d suggest that you start by adding more fat into your diet- at least 30% of your calories.  And if you are doing any more that 3- 20 min sessions a week, cut back on your cardio.
Then I’d recommend trying my HT pills.  they will help support your natural hormone production.
And give your body TIME to recover…be sure to get plenty of sleep and fuel your body properly with food.
I hope that if you consider doing a contest again that you will utilize Hormonal Timing when training, I’ve trained several ladies very successfully for contest with it and now have a couple clients who are taking on theirr own training clients:
Lisa Staudt, Deb Gray and Julie Laughery.
As for starting HT now with no period, in your case I’d start with 2 weeks of boosting then 2 weeks of buffing.  Once you get your period you can adjust accordingly.  I am confident you’ll feel much better once you get your hormones regulated again.
God Bless,
Michelle
p.s. for some additional insight about supplements you can take to help with your hormomes, see this article I wrote (please note the HT pill includes plenty of b-6, so don’t take any extra of it)
Question:
Hi Michelle! I’m truly inspired by your story, but as a mother of 3 I have to ask…no stretch marks…do you cover your c-section scar with makeup or did you at some point have to have surgical intervention just for the skin issues? I ask only because I face extensive stretchmarks and lax skin myself and wonder even if I get back into great shape if I’ll still have those to contend with. Thanks!Answer:
Hi Beth,
I’ve had no surgery on my stomach other than my c-section.
My scar is under my suit and God blessed me by sparing me from stretch marks on my tummy.
I do have a lot of lose skin, but I can’t complain at all.
God has really blessed me!
You will be amazed at how well your stomach can recover from your pregnancy.  I give a ton of focus to my stomach and that’s why it looks the way it does~!
Have you had a chance to read my book “After Baby Abs!” it holds all my secrets~
Merry Christmas,
Michelle
~~~~~

Hope you have a fun, productive and FAB Friday like me!!
Let’s strive to be FABULOUS,
Love~ Michelle
