Bryan’s Hard Core Gym Open For Business!

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Ok before anyone gets the wrong idea let me say that I don’t really own a gym…but…I’ve made the decision to leave the gym I was working out in for the comfortable digs of my own home gym.

The gym where I worked out for most of the winter was and is nice but it’s just not for me.  There are several reasons why but just to highlight a few…….

 1) I hate the way people look at me like I’m some kind of freak because of the intensity with which I work out.  I mean I’m not groaning at the top of my lungs or anything but I’ve been known to make some animal noises and I do make some very funny faces when I lift.  It can’t be helped!  I lift heavy and focus intently and I can’t do that with a big stupid grin on my face.

2)  I get tired of waiting on equipment because a group of hair flipping chickies standing around flirting with guys or teenagers gathered around one piece of equipment in a herd trying to impress the hair flippers.  I do a lot of drop sets and supersets so sometimes it’s almost impossible to get that done because I have to have like 3 or 4 sets of dumbells or 2 pieces of equipment at the same time.  Never fails…I’ll be doing a superset of lat pulldowns and seated rows and I’ll be in the middle of the lat pulldowns and before I’m done and can move over to the seated row some dip shit will sit down and take the seated row machine.  Never mind that I’ve already done 2 sets at those stations and have my towel on the machine…some moroon will still step in.

3) People trying to carry on a conversation with me when I’m working out.  God I hate this.  When I lift I am all business and I am not there to socialize or entertain someone.  If you want to ask me a question please wait till I’m done and cooling down and then I’ll talk you ear off…..or bite it off depending on how the workout went.

Working out at home just makes so much more sense for me.  I don’t have to make time to drive to the gym cause I’m already at the gym.  It’s so much easier to time my supplements because of no travel time.  I can be as loud and intense as I want and I can workout in the nude….a huge bonus for me!!!  Sucks for the neighbors!  LOL!!

Even cardio is better cause I live right next to a park so I can go over and run sprint intervals anytime I want and till the cows come home.  So much better being in the sunshine then on a treadmill in a gym next to some old man or old lady wearing industrial strength perfume or after shave mixed with sweat.  Or better yet some big fat sweaty guy who has ate one to many eggs and has rancid gas.  Thank god for fresh air!!

Home sweet Home!

MuscleTech Contest Final Essay

Thursday, May 14th, 2009
Bottom line, this contest for me has been the difference between my stepping on stage and walking off with the big prize or leaving without a trophy. It has helped me reach new levels of intensity that I truly never knew I could achieve. Using the MuscleTech Shredded stack I was able to peel off the pounds and quickly get cut and shredded beyond my wildest expectations. Everyday when I woke up I would look in the mirror and see a new cut or a bulge and this would inspire me to hit the gym each day with renewed determination and intensity. Being involved in this contest and knowing that there were so many others out there eyeing that big prize that I wanted so badly made me pound the weights with crazy ferocity! I just could not and would not let them take what was mine. No matter the outcome of this contest though the main thing that I’ve drawn from this experience is knowing that I have what it takes inside me to push myself and to excel at this sport. I’ve also learned that my body responds well to MuscleTech products and they will remain a large part of my future contest prep; a future that I look forward to with much anticipation. I am so glad I made the decision to enter this contest and am grateful to MuscleTech for presenting all of us with this opportunity.

MT Contest Drawing to a Close

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Well the MuscleTech Transformation Contest is nearly at an end and I am very excited.  I feel I’ve made a pretty amazing transformation and have as good a chance as anyone to win this thing.  Wednesday morning I will take my final pics and then I will post them Wednesday evening.

The really cool thing about this contest is that it has inspired me to push myself to levels I never dreamed I could acheive.  I know everyone says this but I truly believe I am in the best shape of my life right this very second.

I’ve drawn a lot of inspiration from this site and from the many wonderful BodySpace friends I’ve made who stop by each day to say hello and kick me in my a$$.

I’ve also drawn inspiration from outside sources as well.  My good friend Susan bought me some books by Frank Zane for my birthday and they have been a huge help to me.  Anyone who has visited my page or read my blogs know Frank is my all time bodybuilding hero and I draw upon his experiences and wisdom to help me reach my goals.  Frank has shown me that at just 180lbs you can actually reach the top of the bodybuilding mountain.

Of course he was much younger than I am now but the point is….nothing is impossible and there are no barriers that can’t be overcome if you just want it bad enough.  And I want it really bad.

Anyway I don’t have a lot of time today just wanted to update anyone who might give a shobee dobee on where I’m at as far as my training.  So, keep an eye out for my progress pics Wednesday and please leave a comment and let me know what you think.  Much appreciated.
