Ya Know What Makes Me Sick?

Ya Know What Makes Me Sick?? Well actually lots of things make me sick but for today I’m only gonna talk about one thing in particular. That one thing would be that I am sick and tired of people thinking 50 is old!!!

Every time I turn around I’m reading blogs about these creepy old guys and they’re referring to someone who is like 56 or 57. I have no problem with the creepy part but being creepy is not exclusive to older people. Creepy affects young people too and 56 or 57 is not old.

Or I see comments being left for people who are in their 50’s or 60’s and they start out, “Hey Old Man!” But the one that really pisses me off is people who are in their 50’s and 60’s referring to themselves as old. I myself have been guilty of this and it makes me so mad I could take a bite out of a cactus sandwich.

Hey here’s a News Flash for all you people who think anyone over 30 is old…..Kiss My A$$!!!!!!! Life doesn’t end at 30!!! I absolutely guarantee you that I can do as much as any 29 year old and I can probably do more than the average Joe in his thirties! I’m telling ya 50 is actually the new 25!!

With the advancements in medicine and living a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and a proper diet there is no reason to think a person couldn’t live now to be well into their 90’s and likely into the 100’s!! If I live to be 100 plus….which I fully intend to do…that means I have another 50 plus years to look forward to. That would make me middle aged at best…not freaking old!!

I’m also not planning on spending those last years strapped to a wheel chair, sitting in a shitty diaper, with drool dripping off my chin, putting on a show with my penis whenever someone is around, or throwing my feces at them like some chimp in a cage. And, being tended to by some 20 year old ditz who hates her minimum wage job and hates anything old!! Ain’t happening folks!!!

Comon people….look around! There are a lot of good looking people on here male and female who are 35 plus. I get mistaken for someone in their late 30’s early 40’s all the time and they say, Man you look good for a 50 year old guy. Well ya know what? Thanks but again…kiss my a$$!!

By saying I look good for a 50 year old guy your still saying that you think 50 year old guys are usually nasty looking or should look old which is bologna!!

I’m on a mission to blow that stereotype right out of the water and I encourage anyone who is 50 plus to help me do the same. Comon all you so called “OLD FOLKS” come get your respect!! Show the 30 something’s what they have to look forward to and that we can do anything they can do and more. We can build muscle same as any age group. And we look damn good!!!!

I just saw a video of an 80 year old bodybuilder who didn’t start lifting a single weight till she was in her 70’s and brother I’m telling ya she was hot!! She looked a good 20 to 30 years younger than her contemporaries.

So comon all you 50 plus people…quit referring to yourself as old and all you people under 30….well….give us a “F”-ing break would ya???

Till next time folks! Lift Long and Prosper!!

Love it brotha I have been preaching that for a while. I know of two or three guys in my semi pro full contact football league that play skill positions running back quarterback and a few linebackers that are well on their way to sixty and they will lay the lumber you cant tell them they’re old they say its just experience age is a number its your mindset as to how old you are!!

This saying is before my time, but you should remember back when it was being said, "Never trust anyone over 30." ;P

Lol actually Shannon I remember saying that myself. I also remember thinking my life would end the day I turned 30! Needless to say my perspective on that has changed just a little. Lol

We make the over 40 crowd look pretty damn good huh? Hell, we make the under 40 crowd jealous! When I used to do triathlons, the 40-45 age group of women was some of the toughest competition!

I hear you loud and clear Bryan. I know when I was under 30 I was a punk ass, and now, I know what’s what. I plan on kicking some major ass when I hit 40

I’m with you Bro…. I’m 41 now…and pretty sure i can hold my own against anyone in any age group….. it not the number in a age ….. it’s the feeling of the number in the age! Keep on Keepin!

I’m 53 now, and have been working out steadily since I was a kid. I am very knowledgeable in the field of bodybuilding and even train younger people. While I have lived a very healthy lifestyle and am in better shape than a lot of guys in their 20s I also can’t deny reality. I AM aging…

I get injuries a lot easier than I used to and they take much longer to heal. It takes a lot longer for me to recover from my workouts, I have arthritis in all my major joints, I have lines on my face, and my hair is getting thinner. I now get fat if I don’t follow a very strict diet even though it was never a problem in the past.

Young pretty girls in the grocery store no longer look my way as they see a grandpa - even though I’m not one. I no longer try to date younger women, my current woman is my own age and I prefer that.

I can’t stay up as late as I used to, and I am no longer interested in many pursuits that I had when I was younger. I do still wear earrings in my left ear, have tattoos and still ride my Harley, but I fear an accident more now because I know I would never recover from one at my age.

I have seen many older people try to pretend that aging is just a state of mind and that they are going to stay young….and then I have watched these same people go out and do something like play basketball and tear an Achilles tendon. I have watched older tennis players shred their rotator-cuffs and older bicyclists fall and break their leg in six places. I myself severely injured a calf muscle a few years ago as I insisted on continuing to jump rope into my late 40s - I have since given that activity up.

Our attitudes and personalities age because our bodies age and that affects how we think and feel and the decisions we make. I am going continue to work out and do the best I can, but I am not going to pretend that I am still young because I’m not, that is foolish, and invites injury.

Age 50 is NOT the new 25, it is still 50 and you better recognize that or it may cripple you or even kill you.

Modern medicine may be able to replace my heart, but the rest of me will still be sickly old at a hundred and I don’t see the point of living like that.

I’m not trying to make a negative post, I’m just trying to tell the truth. You can pretend you’re not getting old, but that doesn’t change the fact that you are. It is better to recognize that and then take steps to combat the aging process as I am, for to deny it will only lead to serious injury and spending the rest of your life as a cripple.
