I’m a Phony!!!

That’s right I said phony!!!  I’m always bragging about being such a Hard core Mutha but the truth is I’ve been living a lie as of late!!

I’m trying my ass off to get back to working out hard core but I’ve got to admit the pain is getting to me!!!  I haven’t been able to go heavy at all which is depressing the heck out of me…..so as a result I’ve backed off like a little bitch because I just can’t take the pain.  I’ve also spent way to much time stuffing my face with the wrong kinds of food!!!  I’m so disgusted with myself!!!!  Here I am giving everyone advice and encouragement and I can’t even keep my own house in order!!!  PHONY!!!

The wrist and the shoulder is what’s giving me the most problem and the stupid weather doesn’t help…being so damn cold and it seems the sun never shines in this God forsaken state!!!

I tell ya one thing though….seeing Steph and Brian and others in our circle of friends getting so excited about their contest has inspired me to quit being such a little wussy and I’m going to start a challenge of my own!!!

Starting on the 26th I’m going to join Steph and Maddi and start my own personal challenge….me against my pain!!!  I’ll post starting pics and stats and see just how hard I can push this 50 year old body!!!

I apologize to everyone in the circle for being so phony and weak!!!  That crap is about to change big time though!!!  I’m about to get back to being an even better Hard Core Mutha!!

I missed you, too, BG!! Sorry you’ve been having a hard time lately - is it from the accident? :( Regardless, I don’t think you’re a phony at all - it might be a slight rough patch (I admit to not eating as clean as I hoped, too!), but you’re still my number one Hard Core Mutha, no doubt!! And I also know that you’ll rock your personal transformation… heck, kinda inspired me to think of one myself!! Hope you have better days, BG, I’m sending positive vibes your way!! xo

  2. BryanGee Says:

Thanks Pixi!! You rock!!! Yeah it’s from the accident!!! Can’t seem to get past it….but I’m about too!!!

  3. mrdead Says:

Dude, you can do it no problem!!!

  4. King_Marmoset! Says:

If you are still feeling pain from the accident then you aren’t healed yet. I always try to keep going through injuries and it never helps (like the time I had broken ribs and kept lifting and playing hockey - really dumb!). If you need to rest make it so.

  5. GeminiJedi Says:

The King is a wise King…. Don’t make the injuries worse, and ain’t nothing wrong with taking some time off to heal after nearly being flattened! It is a wise HCM that knows when to take a small break: he’ll come back a bigger and better HCM when he’s healed!

  6. Sunnez Says:

Do I have to come over there and kick your BUTT ???

Bryan you are not a phony, but you may have to go back to square one start out a little lighter and work your way up, your body took a hell of a blow pal. :)

  7. Maddi Says:

Take the hit and get back up. And keep getting up. Phony you are not! You are one of the realest men I’ve ever met….in that imaginary online sense. :)

  8. FLF Says:

Heya homie! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been aching. It can really put a cramp on training, especially if you’re addicted to the heavy pump.
One thing I will say is that the body speaks, so if at any time it tells you "NO!" with a capital N and O, then you better take heed. I’ve met a lot of people that tried to train through the pain, get that last impossible rep, and have really regretted it.
All of us here admire you because training is part of your life, you are knowledgeable, respectful, funny, and have the right attitude to fitness–the attitude everyone should have, not the poser-ish kind. You’re no phony my friend. This time of year it’s ok to be a little easier on oneself, especially with the diet!! (Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise ;) . The weights will always be there. It’s only the hunger for fitness that comes and goes…and for you that hunger aint leavin’!

  9. Daretosoar Says:

I guess we arent going out for pizza and beer now? Darn I was so looking forward to it. Ninja offered to eat my share since he is bulking and I am cutting. Seriously, you probably just needed a little down time which is always depressing for me. That in turn makes it hard to stay on the clean eating path. We think no less of you. As a matter of fact it makes you human and more like us. You just have to jump back on the wagon and start again. Look how many times I have fallen off but I havent failed. I just jump back on or my friends throw me back on. LOL Your a cw and as one, your team wont let you fail. That is why we are here. HCM all the way.

  10. Just Dave Says:

Dude, listen to your body. Take it from someone who regularly puts his through abuse, there comes a point where you just gotta listen to what your body is telling you and heed what it’s saying.

Also, I hate to mention it but Bryan, you ain’t exactly twenty-something. You’re body doesn’t recover as quickly as it used to and YOU GOT HIT BY A CAR! The fact that you’re training at all is amazing and you should be thrilled with yourself bro!

If it’s a slump, fine. Get back in the fight but remember that ultimately, this is about your health. The food slips happen but pay attention to the pain and what kind of pain it is.

Even Hardcore Muthas need to back off just a tad once in a while.

    Just my thoughts,
    Dave

  11. bodyauditor Says:

Gonna have to agree with Dave….we experience pain for a reason. And here’s the rest-o-the story as my friend Paul H. says:

There are two types of injuries:
    1. An injury that can be rehabilitated
    2. An injury that must be repaired.

If you have injury number one…go for it Big Bryan, hit it hard core, be the most nasty, animalistic HCM there ever has been and ENJOY!. However, if you have injury number two…..you’re only gonna make matters worse if you jump on the HCM wagon train before the repair is made. Figure out first which injury you’ve got, then proceed…..It’s imperative that you do that first…

  12. ninjabill Says:

Okay… first thing! Never say sorry! like dave said…YOU GOT HIT BY A CAR! …. I was wondering if you should even be back lifting yet! Now the diet…okay thats you…but you owned up to it and see it for what it is…now you are going to fix it! Your still Hardcore… jus the wrapping around the core….. is a little beat up right now. The only way you will ever bea wuzzy in my eyes….is after you see whats going wrong and you choose not to correct it….. well that really would notmake you a wuzzy…. but more of a quitter! I know your Iron to the core Bro…. time to just Cowboy up and go after it. Taking one step back…does not stop the whole journey!!

  13. mooselvlt Says:

I have to agree with Dave & BodyAuditor here. I had something much more minor early into my training but I pushed it and guess what. It got worse. It was a sharp pain in my bi-tri separation area. Eventually I gave in and figured out execrcises that put less strain on the area. Yeah it was frustrating as hell not hitting a few lifts I wanted to do but I just had to accept that I couldn’t. It set me back but now that its healed I’m dailed in and stronger than before. Be careful and listen to your body. It will tell you how to find the right answers. Good luck sir and keep the faith!

  14. bull.dogz Says:

You are hardly a phony. You were hit by a car for cryin out loud. Most people would be dead. Quit being so hard on yourself. Even hard core mutha’s need a break. If it makes you feel better my diet has sucked. Next time I take a picture you guys are going to have to use a wide screen monitor to see it. haha Stay strong sweetie!!

  15. Pheidippides Says:

I agree with comments above. The most important source of strength isn’t your muscles, it’s your brain. If you have an injury that needs rest or repair, you need to do what you need to do to take care of it. One way of dealing with an injury mentally — which I am forced to try because I can’t run right now — is to be flexible about your workouts and try to workout around your injury, if that’s possible. Are there exercises that don’t involve the injured areas? This may or may not work, but it’s worth thinking about.
    You’re definitely not a phony.

  16. wallstcutie Says:

you are still a hard core mutha in my eyes….

  17. fitnblnde5 Says:
