Somewhere Over The Rainbow!!
I know, I know….this is gay but one of my favorite songs growing up was Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Actually it’s still one of my favorite songs!
It’s hard to beat the original by Judy Garland….damn I sound old….but I love the new version by Kathrine McPhee which is why it’s on my playlist. The reason I love this song is because of the words and the meaning behind them. Stick with me here Metal Heads….some songs actually have something meaningful to say….even oldie goldies!!
Everyone dreams one time or another of going beyond the rainbow to that wonderful land of make believe where we can step out of ourselves….the place where we can make our dreams come true. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops!"
How incredible would it be to go to a place like that? To leave all the B.S. of our previous lifes behind us….just wipe the slate clean and start over!! I know I would sure like to go back and wipe out a lot of my blunders. Just leave all that baggage behind and hope I don’t repeat the same mistakes over again.
If you have ever watched the Wizard of Oz (come on now I know I’m not the only one) you’ll remember though that Dorothy wanted to go beyond the rainbow and actually got the opportunity to do so. Once there she soon discovered that it was not at all what she dreamed of. She soon discovered that life beyond the rainbow was even harder than the life she had left behind and all she wanted to do was go back home. Through all the trails and tribulations she learned….just in the nick of time that she had the power in her all along.
What power you ask???? The power she possessed was the power to change her own life. It was right there before her own eyes the whole time. If she had not been so busy seeking the greener pasture on the other side of the fence she would have seen it sooner. But, like most of us she was too hard headed to see the obvious! She had to hit rock bottom before her eyes were opened. How many of us here have had to hit rock bottom before we see we have the power to change our world….our lives????
Remember what Dorothy said when she finally woke up in her own bed back in Kansas??? "If ever I go looking again for my hearts desire I’ll look no farther than my own back door!" Moral here….don’t rely on others to help you reach your hearts desire…..the power is within you!!! It’s always been in you!

Fact: If you can’t be happy with the situation you currently find yourself in, most likely you will not be happy in the situation you long to be in…..Make the most of what you have and where you are today, only then will the places and situations of tomorrow measure up to your expcetations. Thanks for keeping it real Big Bryan!

Actually, Dorothy’s problem was that when she wished for a land of hot men she neglected to specify that they had to at least be taller than her! You have to be specific when wishing for your hearts desire.

What Dorothy actually learned was that there were places worse than her actual existence. Also, if it was the people in her life she was wishing to escape, that people are actually the same everywhere. Thanks for the blog. One of my favorite movies of all times.
