Embrace Old Age!!! My A**!

I was just reading my good friend Ninja Bills blog and he asked the question…"What gets you excited?"

My reply was that I get excited just waking up each and everyday fit and healthy and not feeling 50 years old!  I also said I live for having people guess my age at between 35 and 40 which happens all the time.

This also got me to thinking about an article I once read that said seniors should not fight old age but embrace it…..what a pile of dog doo!!!  Embrace old age????? WTF!!!!

I can’t remember who the idiot doctor was who wrote it but he went on about how seniors spend far to much time, money and energy trying to stop something that is impossible to stop.  "We all age and we all die," he explained "And there is very little we can do to prevent that."  "Instead of fighting aging we should embrace it and learn to accept the changes our bodies are going through and age gracefully."

Ok!!!  I should embrace waking up every morning with a new ache or pain???  Accept failing eyesight and hearing just because I’ve had another birthday.  Accept the fact that I can no longer make love to my wife because my body is being ravaged by high blood pressure and diabetes and I can no longer get or maintain an erection.  Oh and lets not forget cancer and heart disease….loss of bone density, thinning skin, withering muscle mass, amputated limbs….sounds pleasant doesn’t it??  Well I’m here to tell you that no one…..NO ONE has to accept these as normal aging!!

One of my favorite quotes is…Rage!  Rage against the dying of the light!!!  I love that quote and I live by it!!  I am never giving in to aging and there isn’t a doctor out there that is going to convince me otherwise.

Listen to me…..if you are 50 years…60 years…or 100 years old it is never too late to start trying to regain control over your body!!  Not till the first shovel full of dirt hits your face!

It is as simple as saying I’m taking back control and start exercising and eating right.  Unless you like having all the ailments I previously mentioned.

I am here to tell you that you can actually turn back the clock and regain some of your youth if you just make a conscious effort to do so.

There are many documented cases of people who were on deaths door that regained control of their bodies by changing their diet and starting a fitness program.

They were Lupus patients, cancer patients, people with advanced heart disease and diabetes who got off their meds and started living their lives again.  Hell there are several people here who have done the same.

A perfect example of someone who would not accept disease and old age would be the author of "The Makers Diet."  Google that and read his story…he had been to every doctor imaginable and no one could help him.  He was in extreme pain all the time and had given up the will to live and was just waiting for the relief that death would bring him.  It was a simple change in his diet and a moderate exercise plan that turned his life around from one of everyday torture to one of eternal hope.  Everyone here has the tools to make that happen….the only other thing you need is the desire and the discipline!!

Please, please, please don’t listen to anyone when they tell you…."Well that’s just a normal part of aging."  If someone…anyone tells you that tell them Bryan Gee said to kiss your ass and then go out and prove them wrong!!

Beyond the individuals with perceived handicaps regaining control, how about the one’s who never lost control and are looking great in their "senior" years?….Lou Ferrigno, Arnold S, Sergio Oliva, Larry Scott, Robbie Robinson, etc…..google these people and tell me that they are embracing old age with a serious face…

Yes, I’m sure Jack La Lane would love to add his 2 cents to your blog, too, Bryan! My friend Alicia asked me once "you want to have the strength to get yourself out of your chair (when you’re 80), don’t you?" I’m not accepting that I’m "supposed" to lose 5% of my strength every year after age — whatever it is, I’ve forgotten. Or just accept that I’m going to fall and break a hip. :P I know I look younger than I am, too, and if Sarah (from the Bible) could look so good at 90 years old that Abraham had to lie that she was his sister so no one would kill him to have her, then, by golly, I can look that good too!!! :)

Bryan, I wish my dad had some of this fight in him. He is old beyond his years. I beat him as much as possible, but it only is a drop in the bucket. Keep being an inspiration, brotha!

Jack is my all time hero…I worship that man and the amazing things he has done!! Diane you do look younger than you are and it can only get better…glad to see you have that attitude.

KM dude I feel for ya!! Keep beating your dad and don’t give up on him…I wish I had beaten my parents a litlle more often!

Bill thanks for the props man…age is just a number!! And I want to spread that message to everyone who thinks they have to accept aging!!
