Are you a Contender or a Pretender??

One word of warning!!!  What I’m about to say might piss some people off and if it does you might want to re-evaluate why you ever decided to pick up the weights in the first place.

Ok here goes!

Getting fit and building the type of physique that others will envy is hard freaking work!!  It doesn’t happen overnight no matter what amazing new supplement you may be taking that makes promises to the contrary!

Changing eating habits that have been engrained in us since birth requires will power and dedication and try as you may you are gonna backslide once and awhile but the difference between a contender and a pretender is the contender picks themselves up and drives forward….the pretender whines and cries and say’s, "I can’t do this it’s just too hard!"

Here it is in a nutshell my friend….if you want to make gains then you have to expect pain…..lots of it as a matter of fact!!

Look in any bodybuilding mag and look at the pics of your favorite BB’er working out.  See that grimace on their face???  That’s not no bullshit poser!!  That’s real pain you see on their face.  Contenders grunt and groan and make f*&ked up faces when they lift.  They yell and spit and fart and they get results!!

The pretenders bitch about being sore and stand around in between sets chatting and whinning with the other pretenders about how hard this is and trying to figure out why they aren’t making any progress.  Or they stand around secrectly making fun of the ripped guy or gal over on the free weights who just about shit their pants while pulling off a huge deadlift!!

If you want results quit your bitching and whinning and embrace the pain!!!  Hell yes it’s hard but if it wasn’t everybody would be doing it and we would all be running around looking like Arnold clones!!    Quit looking for excuses and find solutions instead!!

Do contenders bitch and whine??  Of course they do!!  But like I said a contender will have their little hissy fit and moment of doubt and then they kick themselves in the ass for being such a pussy and find a way to drive through the pain and doubt.

Do I whine and bitch!!!  I think we all know the answer to that…..hell yes I do but I don’t linger on it….I find a solution.  For example I have been bitching lately about the amount of fat I’ve been retaining around my belly.  It’s freaking disgusting and I’m sick of it so I’ve declared war on that fat by stepping up my cardio!!

An hour of running and sprinting every morning on an empty stomach and 30 to 40 minutes of cardio every night after my workout.  My very intense workout I might add.  I’ve also started doing ab work everyday.  Does it hurt???  Damn straight it hurts!!  I’ve had the dry heaves in the morning and actually spewed while running at night.  I’ve had to roll out of bed onto the floor and then pull myself up because my damn legs hurt so bad I could barely move but I still stretch and go out and run again.  Why??  Because I want to be a contender not a whinney ass pretender.

I truly want to see everyone on here who has the desire to be fit succed.  I really do!!  That’s why I’m saying this even at the risk of hurting someones feelings.  I want to light a fire under someone and maybe push them to be a contender instead of a pretender…..why????  Because it’s worth it!!!

So, do you truly want to lose that weight???  Do you want the physique you’ve always dreamed of??  Then quit looking for someone to wipe your little chins and butts for ya and dry your little crying eyes and get to work!!

you mean thinking about how hard an exercise is isn’t the same as doing it?
    Wow.
    This changes everything.

*Standing ovation* Pushing through the pain and puke really does make one stronger. I know I had a HUGE grin after my leg press set last night, right after I pushed through the burn and urge to heave. It’s rewarding in that you know you’re doing something good for yourself, and getting the junk out!

I will run tomorrow morning on an empty stomach. In fact, I can’t wait to do it.
