Great end to the day

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Well I started this day barely able to walk and I struggled like crazy through my entire cardio but I stuck with it and made it through.  The soreness and stifness gradually eased during the day and I had a kick ass lifting session tonight.  It is unbelieveable to me how much of a difference the extra creatine and the nitric oxide booster is making in my workouts.  I am getting incredible pumps….I can feel my muscles growing with each rep….it’s unreal.  While I’m really pleased with my workouts I need to be more disciplined in my eating habits and I need to step it up with my abs work.  I am getting so frustrated with my abs cause that’s the area I am hoping to see the most improvement.  The crappy part is that I can feel the muscle underneath but it’s covered with a layer of disgusting flubber.  It’s even more frustrating cause my chest and arms are really busting out but my gut takes away from it.  Oh well I guess it didn’t get on there over night, even though it seems like it, so it’s gonna take some time to go bye bye.  All in all though not a bad day….lets hope tomorrow starts out better than today.

It Was Bound to Happen

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later.  This morning during my cardio my legs hurt like a bitch and I didn’t think I was going to be able to run but I fought through it and made it ok.  I’ve been really lucky so far as I haven’t really had any muscle soreness but DAMN did I pay for it today.  If this continues I may have to consider taking a rest day from cardio on Wednesday or at the very least…taking it down a notch to give me a little more recovery time.  I had a power smoothie for breakfast this morning which I make using instant oatmeal, peanut butter, milk, yogurt, chocolate whey powder, and ice.  That gives me 350 calories with about 35 grams of protien and 5 grams of fat.  I’m goint to try to start making an entry here everyday to kind of gauge how I’m feeling as I progress toward my goals….my state of mind and all that…plus try to keep track of my calories, protien and fat intake.  Fighting through that soreness this morning has made me feel really good about myself.  In the past I might have really backed off on the cardio or just said to hell with it all together so making myself run is a positive step forward.  Having this site and this space to keep track of my progress has really been helpful plus I get to see others who have been where I’m it and how that made it through….that’s my inspiration to keep moving forward……more later…..

I’m Not Dead Yet!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Well I’ve been hitting it hard now for 2 weeks and I’m feeling pretty good about the way things are going.  I started at 212 pounds and now I’m up to 220 but I’m not freaking cause I know it’s cause I’m packing on muscle and losing fat cause I can feel the tightness as my muscle expand and my pants are getting loser.  I don’t really get that concerned about the scale cause to me it’s all about how you look and how your clothes fit.  I think I just need to hit the cardio a little harder as I’ve been a little lax in that area.  I also need to quit snacking after supper….especially the cashews.  My starting goal was to be 175 pounds of lean muscle but I’m starting to rethink that goal.  I like the feeling of the pump I’ve been getting from hitting the heavy weights so if I could stay at 220 pounds or more of kick ass muscle with about 10% body fat or less that would be all freakin right with me.  I know it’s really hard to build muscle at my age but there are plenty of people on here who have acheived that goal so I have plenty of people to inspire me to work harder.  I’m just glad to feel alive again and I’m feeling pretty good about meeting my goals and getting back to the level of fitness I was just a couple of short years ago.
