Who else here loves Rocky?
Two weeks since I started my program in earnest, I’m starting to see mass gains. I’m also starting to see my belly get soft. I know that this is inevitable, to some extent - in order to grow as efficiently as possible, it is better to overshoot caloric needs than to… undershoot them? You know what I mean. But there is one class of athlete that seems able to lose fat and build muscle simultaneously: boxers.
During my cutting phase (I’m going to call it that - it was really more like a rescue mission: operation save tubby), I joined a boxing gym, and it was there that I first experience the endorphin high that runners are always on about. Quite frankly, the boxer’s workout is brutal. My usual cardio routine is a freaking warm-up for these guys.
I am more interested in size and strength than weight loss at this point, but I’ve rejoined Church Street Boxing to control my waistline while I’m bulking up. Yesterday was my first day back after more than four months out of the gym. My heart did not explode. That’s about all I can say for myself.
I’ll be alternating my workouts (weights/boxing), so that I hit each gym three times every week. I’ll report my progress, and you can read about it right here. I think it’s safe to say that this blog is the place to be.
Next goal: mastering Olympic lifts.
-Brooklyn out.

Thanks Jaded. I’m pleased to report that the operation was a success, though we lost a lot of good desserts out there.
