Morning Work Out

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

After last nights work out I thought I might be a bit sluggish this morning in the gym. I had cereal, toast, and a pork tamle for breakfast. Then downed a quick 10 onces of Shock Therapy 20 minutes later. I did Super Sets on Bi’s and Tri’s. The pump was most noticable on Bi’s. My Tri’s don’t really feel that tight, but they do get burned till failure. Then progression on Lats till time ran out on my break. I had 20 onces of Torrent post workout beverage. Got a good pump in the gym and overall felt good rest of the day! I’m wondering why my energy has been high lately, even without Shock Therapy? My goal is to stay physically healthy and not push to hard where the body winces. (tendons)

Typical supplement timing before and after evening workouts

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Animal Pak at 7pm, Muscle Milk at 7:30, Animal Pump at 8pm, Storm at 8:30. Workout started with the 5 min Life fitness stress test warm up, H2o break, Bench and matched PR on 3rd set, H2o break, 3 more sets on bench, H2o break, Lats 4 sets, H2o break, 2 more sets, Lats 4 sets, H2o break, 2 more set and Finish with Torrent post work out, Jacuzzi for 15 min, Shower and go home, ZMA at 10:45pm. Soup snack after this post at 11:30 then bed time with wake up at 6:45 am.

I moved alot of weight tonight and matched my incline pr and new Lat pr. Overall I was not expecting to make new benchmarks it just felt like the right time to push a little harder at the moment. So my plans on plate changes went in attack mode for some unknown reason? 208 went up 2.5 times. I’m thinking 225 will be at the end of the month…Next week!!

Watching Spike TV and hitting some bicep curls

Friday, April 18th, 2008

As the sun sets in Oregon I got a good pump while watching UFC Night on Spike tv. I measured the guns at 15.5 after workout. Progress to 16’s will get there eventually. I have faith that goals will be met as long as I stay in good health. Hard to believe that I increased 1.25 inches in the last 5 months. I don’t see the growth in weekly progress, I can only trust the measurements. I’m still sitting at 190 lb, waist is down again at 36". Skin thickness on hip is 11mm and is the best measurement to date at aprox 22% body fat.

Feeling the pain

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Man tonight I felt pretty good in joints and tendons. I failed on the incline of 208. But was lifting 3 sets of failure reps prior to tackling 2oo pounds. I feel like next week should be stronger if all goes well in recovery time. Lat pull downs is where I hit a fatigue wall after the 5th set of 150lbs. I just could not recovery in 90 second rest period. Makes me wonder if it is lack of protein (energy)? I may need to try a protein shake during a workout and see if that helps. I sat in the Jacuzzi and felt pretty good!

New meassurements

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Overall I’m a little bigger and that is good. My arms are one inch bigger than when I first started, and that is a mile stone! My waist is under control and still dropping a quarter inch to 36.25. Legs are a little bigger with mainly martial arts kicks and stances since my neck muscle pull two months ago. I weighed in two days in a row a 190 pounds. I think the creatine in my pre and post work out supplement is adding water weight, just a guess? Because my mid section is not bloated…Any way and any how, here I am on new ground!

Biceps hit 2 days in a row

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

I was not really planning on hitting Biceps again. But ended up super setting Bi’s and Tri’s. Traps are getting stronger on full stack universal lifts. The ego gets stroked to say the least.

Dojo and home workout

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Went in today for one on one training with my instructor. Worked on points of precision from ground to pound. Session was from 11a-12:30p then laid down for 2 hour nap. Then watched a Christian KRUMP video while working on Biceps. The modern street moves have always facinated me Saturday Night Fever and Grease. Evolution of what’s the latest fad helps me keep an open mind to what the kids are really attracted to in new Fads? DOMS in chest is fairly mild and tri’s and lats feel under challenged from yesterdays workout. Tomorrow should Traps and Abs if all goes to plan at work, sometime things change at a drop of a hat.

New bathroom scale

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Well I saw a bunch of scales at Wall Mart and the price was right. The hydration and body fat calculators are the reason for the purchase. After my workout and jacuzzi I weighed in at 187.4, H-51, BF 24%. I was a little disappointed with bf? But that’s what I’m working on while still trying to gain. After taking a month off from lifting heavy on the chest and tri’s my elbows felt a little weak supporting failure reps. I still eyeballing 225lbs on next PR. It will take a few weeks before my next attempt as I reload the muscle memory and  hopefully go beyond!

Friday night TKD sparring

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Definite aerobic sweats, emotional commitment, and adrenaline rush. Equals respiration challenge. I was sucking the air tonight as it has been a while since I’ve been challenged this hard. Non stop attack, defensive counters, and plain old fighting. Did four rounds at ten minutes each with 2 minute break between rounds for H2o and recharge. I’m the oldest contender and I feel it. I had one younger teen sit out a round. Made me feel a little better.

Spring PR goal surpassed

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Hitting pushups for 30 minutes was my change up on chest and tri exercises. My goal was achieved and the key is time management. And of course a little bit of elbow grease. What’s in a PR? Testing one’s ability with measurable progress. The endorphins of ephoria flow when you’ve bested your best to date. This means it’s back to the weight room to lift and train on a new routine. I’m switching to the Smith machine for incline press and squats, claf raises. Hitting 225 lbs on inclines is still my next goal. Also weighing in at 190 and 15% BF by end of Summer. Current weight is 186.4 and 12mm skin measurement on hip. Aprox 17-18% BF.
