Traps and Abs

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

I was hesitant to think about breaking a sweat at work, just was not gung-ho. Then I got a cat call (sneer) that I was weak for sitting out a workout oportunity. So I stepped up to doing some shoulder shrugs on the Universal bench rack. I did want to increase Ab sets capability… so I got off my rear and got in gear.

Forum Animal Pak.com has free offers and so does Universal.com

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I recieved some free samples of Shock Therapy Pre-workout powdered beverage mix. Flavor is Grape Splash and taste like Kool-aid in my opinion. The claim is extreme Pumps and Energy. I can say that I did have a good supply of energy at the start of my workout. But the last 30 minutes I felt fatigue, but did have a Hell of a Bicep pump from lat pull down and killer seated row’s. My wife commented 1hour and 15 minutes after tonite’s workout that I looked a little beefed up. Who does not like to hear complements? I have to make some progress pics as I’m still procrastinating on getting it done. Again the web site at forumanimalpak.com is worth checking out! If you join tell’em bronzebird hooked you up! Also Universal.com has some freebies too!! I have not gotten any phone calls or junk mail either!!

Hyperventilation produces extra Reps

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Hey I tested my theory of extra available oxygen on Supper Sets. I hit failure Reps on a established weight for 2 sets. And consistently rested for 90 seconds between sets. And on 3rd and 4th sets I did deep breathing for 30 seconds before the sets and got an extra Rep before failure? I do not know if this has any implications of improved results in Long Term gains from workout this kind of Workout?

Upper body getting stronger

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I did the incline bench with ten added pounds than previous workout plus did more Reps before reducing plates. I used animal pak and Pump last workout and did not having any DOMS. Tonight I skipped the Pump and used the animal pak and torrent post workout shake that has creatine and other enhancers. I’m curious if the DOMS will set in because my guess is animal products really helps muscle recovery. I’ll hit the Squats with a leg workout on next trip to the gym. I screwed my Neck with a pulled muscle working deep squats on like the 3rd set? So, I’ve been reluctent to hit the legs hard. I look forward to March and hope to be 110% for next cycle of animal stak2. Looks like 6 times a year with 3 weeks on and 5 weeks off. This is just a my opinon on keeping New gains comming every week!! I’m overdue on progress pics and with the sunny wheather of late I should stop procrastinating and step in front of the Garage door again. :)

My Neck is about 90% normal and Workouts are pushing new Gains!

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

I had only a slight irritation throb after a Motorcycle ride today with Sunny 46 degrees. I rode across town to the library looking for the Arnold Encyclopedia of bodybuilding. It was checked out but did find a couple of other Encyclopedia by Gold’s gym and Pumping Iron-The Art and Sport of Bodybuilding. Anyway I think the helmet might have caused some added stress during gear shifting? I washed my Toyota Prius and F150 today. And pressure washed the Moss off the street from under my truck. Also cut the grass today too!! I feel much better after busting a good sweat off and on during the Gym workout. I felt like puking after the Abdominal workout so I skipped the Swim and jaccuzzi tonight. The cold air outside helped the nausia until the smell of Chimeny smoke ruined my moment of serinity. I guess thats the price for playing catch up on lost training time.

Nice pump on rebound workout

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Did the 5 min warm up cycle with stress level on 12 with 70-72 rpms. Scored Average with a heart rate of 160. Then set up the Wide Grip Hammer Machine with 180 pounds. Did 3 set times 10, then hit failure reps of 8,6,5. Then set up flat bench with 147lbs with 6 set at 4,3,3,3,3,2.5 Reps. I did not work the failure reps very long as not to strain my neck. Held weights for about 5 seconds on slow return to neutral postion. The did some Cable rows that seemed difficult but got some Bicep pump that carried over into the Lat pull down routine that also seem difficult with lighter weight than normal. I can tell I loss some strength with my Medical Layoff from lifting. Then I did my Abdominal routine on the parallel bars 10 strainght leg ups, 10 right side knee up, 10 left side knee up which equals on set. The second and third set are killers and ended my workout for the night. The Gym speaker music was classic Ramones and some other alternative oldies that was actually fun because it brought back memories of my Roaring 20’s….Ok I’m glad to be back and have some catch up work to do. (smile)

Meds seem to work

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I took the Mobic anti-inflamatory last night around 9pm. I took another one today at 10am. I have rested well today. I got our new HP Pavilion PC set up on my Belkin wireless router. Our old computer was 8 years old and not worth fixing. Start up files were getting lost, system would lock up, and it all started when I used "Imesh" shareware to download some mp3 files. I must have picked up a virus that slipped under McAfee’s radar…? Well my 4 year old HP lap top was our sole internet access and hope that my XP program does not fizzle out anytime soon since Micro Soft is going to stop customer support on the Legacy software. I think that does a major dis-service for loyal customers that may not want to be forced to upgrade Hardware in order to accomadate new Vista memory hog. Well, that’s enough venting on the Marketing conspiracy of Bill Gates.

I start my work week tomorow 8am-4pm. And if my Neck holds up after work I think I go to the gym with Misses Bronzebird.

Doctor seen for Neck Pain

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Heat treatment, Rest, Mobic Anti-inflamaotry, Vicodin Pain killer. Thats about all was said in diagnoses of Neck Pain. He did not say it was a pulled muscle or if it is muscle spasm. At least I now have been responsible to see the Doctor. Physical Therapy reccomended if it does not improve in 3 weeks. Until then what will I do…??? Lite workout when pain goes away or Lite workout like I did 2 days ago and the Neck was sore after the workout but not during the workout :(

Pain in the Neck

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Well…The last leg workout I did, I got a tension knot while doing leg extenisions. I massaged it for 5 minutes and finshed work out early with 3 sets on squats. Then a couple of days latter I had NO symtoms from the neck spasm knott, so I did a PR on Incline bence. The next few days including today the throbbing comes and goes. So I have been relaxing after work and resting. I’m scheduled for legs tonight and will not workout. Having the discipline to say No is difficult. Tommrow I’ll hit the gym after some morning college assignments are submitted via online education. I’m starting to think that I may need glasses to get rid of stress spasim.

Strength Gains and some added Size in Pounds and Inches

Friday, February 1st, 2008

I hit my Incline Bench Personal Record at 208 for 2 reps. I think my next Goal will be 228 on PR since I think I can lock it out now with a modified Warm Up Routine. I was under estimating my goal of 190 on the Incline. My Incline routines were always a struggle after Wide Grip Bench, Flat Bench, then the Bruttal Incline, and finished stronger with the declines. I am pleased with my training. Pushing over 200lbs is all new territory for this 186 pounder. I feel Animal Products have assisted in muscle recovery and always increased my previous workout in total Weight moved. Thats my challenge till I hit the enevitable Plateau at some point? When hitting New bench marks it is like a freaking dream…I put 228 on the bar after 208 for 2 reps. Why did I push 208 twice instead of stopping after one rep. Save energy for the 228 rep. I guess I was stoked on the ease of the first rep so I banged out another one and failed on the 3rd…That’s it, failure rep training is something that I really enjoy. Fighting the Wall nice and slow back to Neutral. Enough of trying to expalin spontaneous actions on a weight lifter’s HIGH!!

My caution is… not to get injured. My dream is to bench 300lbs, Some day.
