7.25.09 End of the week summary…

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

- constantly tweaked diet/exercise…found some new tricks that are working for me…scaled back at cardio because my body had quickly gotten use to the daily high intensity and it was no longer responding as before

- goal met of getting to the gym at 5 am when it opens.  I’ve been getting there by 6, 6:30, 7…but I need to condition myself for when I return to work in 3 weeks because my time in the morning will be limited.

- saw another 1.5 lbs reduction…YES!  Body is a LOT tighter even if weight doesn’t reflect it…but I still don’t want to post any measurement changes yet. ( I know that weight isn’t the only thing to go by….blah, blah, blah…I’m working on my mindset!)

- the bodyfat reduction was the most impressive for me, even though I had to do it on my own and don’t think I did it right.  But to see the difference was motivating for me.

- seeing all the progress my bodyspace friends are making makes me happy and keeps pushing me not to stop

Disappointed at weight loss…

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

My thoughts to help me through this rough patch:

I finally get to weigh myself and after 5 weeks of daily cardio and the past 2 weeks of weight lifting, plus strictly maintaining my nutrition plan, I had a grand total weight loss of 1/2 a pound!  Yes, that number is correct and my scale is working fine….and had good batteries…and it was the total weight loss for 1 month …..NOT 1 week BUT 1 MONTH!

This makes me very upset….it’s always been like this for me….that is why I don’t set any goals like “I’m going to lose x amount of pounds in one month or I’m going to lose x amount of dress sizes in this time period”.  It makes me ask myself why am I even putting myself through this?  I mean yes I love the feeling I get when I’m exercising….I love pushing my body to its limits and then recovering to push it again, but I’m a results oriented person and if I don’t see results then it makes me want to give up….

Restricting diet this week to maximize fat loss

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

I’m not going to starve myself or lower my calories.  I’m just going to restrict carbs to just vegetables and salad.  I’m also going to restrict protein by eliminating poultry and concentrating on fish.  I don’t eat red meat or pork; I limit that to once a week; usually that’s on my cheat day on the weekends, but lately it’s about once or twice a month.  I’m seeing some progress, but I want to really attack the fat around my stomach.  I will be upping my cardio to help with this as well.

This will be my 3rd week with my weight routine which is a split routine; upper body one day, lower the next.

I hope to see some notable changes by the end of the week.  This is my 3rd week of daily consistency of waking up early and working out.  It will be a challenge to make sure I continue with this….as they say, consistency is the key to progress…

Second week lifting pain free…

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

…since my doctor okayed me to return and its been great!  I haven’t missed one day and I haven’t felt any pain.  Of course, I’m still going twice a week to the Chiropractor and that has helped keep me pain free.  I’m kind of upset because I haven’t seen changes, but I have to keep reminding myself not to think too much about it.  I figured in another two weeks if I don’t have any significant changes then I’ll have to do something different.  But I’m so happy to be lifting again, hard to believe how addicting it is.

My lifting routine is two bodyparts and 30 minutes of cardio each day for four days.  I rest on the fifth day and resume afterwards.  I’ve gone very light on the weights these past two weeks, but since everything has gone well and haven’t had any problems, I will be going heavier this week.  YES!!
