ANother bloody injury!!

August 23, 2009

So played my first preseason game yesterday, got tackled into the ground on my right shoulder… bang AC joint injury. Luckily got it xrayed and its not a separation, but means 2-4 weeks NO training!!!! what am i goin to do? To make matters worse was feelin really sorry for myself and had the mother of all cheat days after it happened, obviously feeling a littel **** about that now, considering i cant train now. Anyone got any ideas? Im gonna b bored ****less unless i can train something, cant really use my arm, dont think i can do squats with a BB cos of the pressure down on the shoulder.

Help me!

Injuries are so freaking annoying!!!!

March 18, 2009

Just needed to vent my anger!!!

I havnt been able to train legs for 2 weeks now due to 2 separate injuries. On sat in rugby i got my second deadleg in as many weeks! This has prevented me from training my legs this week again! Oh and the massage treatment for a deadleg is agony!! If you have ever had a proper deadleg and not just the one your mate gives you you will know, you cant walk for a few days, you cant bend your leg, your constantly attached to ice and its a pain in the arse. Hopefully i will recover by the weekend somewhat, or at least enough to get out on the pitch and play rugby!!!

I’ll post a vid of me getting the treatment for you to watch, i had to put a soundtrack over the top cos i was squeeling like a girl!

I’m Excited!!!

February 25, 2009

Basically since May 08 ive been training in a slightly limiting environment. I took over running my old schools gym, previous to starting i was training the schools rugby boys and had noticed they just dont know how to train and that they had no way of learning how to lift.

The problem was, they had no ‘proper’ training kit. The schools policy had been as there was no one to look after the gym they couldnt have free weights. Probably a sensible thing as when i came in they had never even heard of a squat!!

So i bought with me my squat rack, bar, bench from home and set about teaching those interested in how to lift. Everything else in the gym is fixed path resistance, no dumbbells, no cables!!

Thats ok for the basics but ive been lifting a few years now and like my set of DB’s from 2.5kg to 50kgs.

Luckily i came on board just as the school was thinking of upgrading the gym! Bonus, they didnt have a clue what equipment to get, absolutely none. So they said, ‘ heres the budget Ollie, go off and design the gym!’. Isn’t that the sentence everyone wants to hear?? So i set out my wish list and guess what…. All in budget! Put the suggestion forward and they were happy with it. Yey!

Now that was all back in July 08…. They said my little old gym would b ready in Sept 08 ready for the beginning of the rugby season and the school term… The thing you have to realise about schools is that everything takes a good 9 months longer than expected. Lots of meeting back and forth with commitees and bursary blah blah blah.

But finally yesterday we got the call!!! " Ollie can you block of the new gym area, were going to start knocking the room around nxt tues, should be 10 weeks work to get it done!" YES!!!!!!!!!

For the last 7/8 months i have had to train with a very limited amount of kit and no decent dumbbells, none over 12.5kg. I’m so excited because it means i can take my training up another notch. The new gym also coincides with the rugby off season so i can get ready for the season ahead. Need to gain the mass and get anaerobically fit too so its gonna b a struggle, but thats what lifes about, isnt it?

Cheers
