FAT BOY FAT BOY

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Ok, maybe i’m not fat, but i am outta shape.  I’ve lost alot of what i had.  I haven’t worked out since March of 08.  In that time i got married, PCS’d, Changed jobs, got depolyed.  You would think me being deployed i’d get ripped in the gym.  Oh no, first month i got fat as hell they fed me too good.  After a look at the scale i realized, maybe its time to loose wieght.  Well i went on a diet lost the wieght but still didn’t hit the gym.  Same thing now, i watch my wieght but just haven’t hit the gym ‘consistently’ for 9 months. I need to get back into it.  When i went consistently, i ’scoffed’ at anybody who couldn’t find that little bit of motivation to get in there and do SOMETHING.  Now i’m one of those guys.  BAH! I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Trainee becomes the Trainer…

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I got a little boost in my ego yesterday in the gym.  Apparently i look experianced enough to be asked a question about how to train.  A younger man who i presume just started working out saw me doing my shoulder routine.  And asked me how perfect his over head press and also inquired about which muscles it works. So I showed him 2 variations, the overhead dumbbell and the arnold press.

Hurtin for certain

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

So after my PT test and my Board appearance i have alot to celebrate… however now that its over i have alot of work.  My belly seems to have exploded.  Maybe I just need to give it some TLC… I know i need to give it some TLC.  Abs are my least favorite exercise, thats why i love the winter months cause i don’t have to keep a lean appearance i can just let go, but with spring around the corner its the same thing every year… its so hard to get started. And i know if i give it just a fraction of attention i give me other body parts, i’d be in good shape. My arms are cut, my legs are super cut from all the running in the army. Its just my mid section that refuses to get cut.

Legs were the same deal, i hated to do them cause i run all the time but i tell myself i love them with reverse psychology, and for some reason it works.

My chest has always been a hard gainer.  As an update i’ve been doing deeper incline with Incline press, Incline Flyes, and on the Pec Deck i sit lower.  Still doing 4-6 reps 5 sets total of 4 exercises

Whats the secret with counting the Sets and not the reps? i overhear people talking about it but i never looked into it.

Board Results

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I scored a 147 out of 150.  My total score is 520 points out of 800, and with my Job short NCO"s the cut off score to get promoted is 350. So that means…. I’M GETTING PROMOTED TO SERGEANT IN APRIL!!!  I’ve been waiting a year for this and it finally happened!  So that means April is going to be a hellacious month. I’m getting promoted to E-5, I’m getting Married, plus I’m PCS’ing to Kaiserslautern, but the best part is, i have no money! So this promotion came at a right time.  My supervisor got fired on Monday cause he made a "command desision" without consulting the Command.  Its bitter sweet cause i’m glad he’s gone cause he was really just dead weight.  But it sucks because he left me and this other solider with all of this work thats due by Friday and the best part is i had to step up to the plate to be in charge.  We’re doing something right because we’re right on schedule.

Does anybody know why PM doesn’t work?

APFT RESULTS

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

264 out of 300.  Last score was 260 so a 4 point improvement is definetly better than no improvement.  Pushups I did about 76 but he only counted 72 which was 1 from Max.  Situps i did 75 but he only counted 72 because my 2 pinkie fingers were not interlaced. My run actually went down which i’m surprised to a 1500.  I was feeling cocky because at the 1 1/2 mile mark, they said 1030 so i figured i had plenty of time (jedi mind ****)  yea right.  So end result was 97% pushup, 89% situp, 78% run.  I’ll be training for endurance the next time around so wish me luck.  On a different note, I’ll be going to the promotion board on March 5th so don’t expect any updates from this side of the house until then. Gotta get my Sergeant!  Wish me luck on that too, its been far to long…. plus my boss is a prick and can’t wait to out rank him, he’s a corporal (My rank only in a Leadership position so they give him the title Non-Commisioned Officer, HA!)

APFT TOMORROW!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I’ve been traing for power, not endurance this whole winter, so hopefully i can knock this thing out.  I know i can pass it but if i make a 290-300, then i don’t have to do PT with my unit i can spend the extra time in the gym. My only problem is my Run, i can do 1430minutes in 2 miles, but i have to knock it down to ATLEAST 1330, 1 whole minute!  Its rough but i’ve been trainging for it for the last 2 years so lets see what happens, wish me luck!

New Standard!!!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I was able to bench 220 this afternoon at the gym!!  I’m so proud of myself cause 2 years ago (+/- a few months), my partner insisted i attempt that lift and ended up dropping it on my chest. Today I did I one rep with 0 assistance and 3 more a minor help.  I was certainly impressed, I reached my original goal!

Muscle and Fitness March 2008

Monday, February 18th, 2008

As most people on this site i’m here to gain muscle and take as much advice from people i know and read in Flex, M&F, and Mens Health.  However in the March 2008 article of M&F How to gain 10lbs in 1 month, i realized there virtually no way a normal Joe can afford the BodyBuilding lifestyle.  Please read this letter I wrote to the editor.

I was reviewing you March Issue how to gain 10 lbs in 1 Month.  I’ve been going to the gym for 3 years and my gains are coming. However when I reviewed your issue of all the supplements and food I must consume I was taken aback by the price.  Food is not really an issue for me because being in the Military, you have an all you eat buffet Breakfast lunch and dinner.  However the supplements you suggested I take would top out at $793 per month. How can a normal person afford that?  Granted being in the army my pay scale is much less than the civilian world but I find it hard to believe that even a normal 9 to 5 employee can afford that which you prescribe. Please review what you told your readers they should take.
Nutrex Vitargo $324 for 9 containers at 3lbs
Optimum 100% Casein Protein $129 for 3 containers at 4 lbs
Ultra Iso Whey $135 for 5 containers at 2 lbs
Primal Force EAA $59 for 1 container (GOOD FOR 2 MONTHS)
Liquid Gold Flax oil $14 for 1 container (Good for 1 month +)
Universal BCAA stack AAC $72 for 4 containers at 250 grams
Prolab Glutamine powder $40 for 1 container at 1000 grams
Higher Power Micronized Creatine $20 for 1 container (Good for 2 months)
*My source was BodyBuilding.com with the 1st or 2nd link that showed up.
1st month $793
2nd month $714
I’m sure you already know this, and with science the way it is I’m sure this is the Ideal way to gain muscle. However is there any other way a normal person can gain 10lbs in 1 month without going broke?
Sincerely
James McCrary
Is it just me or does it seem unrealistic to follow these nutritional guidelines?  I wanna get just as big as the next guy but damn, it feels like false advertiseing.  Like You can own a Bugati in with monthly payments of $53, but the fine print says you’ve got to put down $95,000.

Blog Entry

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

It sucks the only time I write is when i hurt myself, but thats what happened.  I was doing dealifts the other night and i think i was trying to be to cool and show off for the hottie on the treadmill and ended up lifting 250 lbs with my back.  I could do 2 just fine but going for 5 was a mistake and poor form broke me off yesterday and today.  I also switched up my routine alittle bit.  Before i was doing Shoulder&Legs -Mon chest&tri-tues and back&bis - wed, and repeated through saturday now that school is out of the way and with some nifty advice from der massenheimer I’m going to train I body part a week and focus all my energy on these few workouts.  It workouts too because during the winter months i’m training for mass and to focus my energy on 1 body part give me more power to do it.  In the spring summer i’ll train back for endurance and multi sets. anyways i’ll post back in another few months

My + Diet + 5 x 5 = Superman… i hope

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

As promised I started my diet Monday, along with my 5×5 training regiment, still needs some tweaking though. My diet currently consist of

Morning: PT - 600-730

745 Cell Tech w/ 2 overeasy eggs, 4 hardboiled, whole grain and fruit

10 - NitroTech (with banana 2 tblspns of peanut butter) and fruit

12 - chicken, rice, veggies

14 - tuna fish (1 tblspn of lowfat mayo and relish) fruit

16 - Nitrotech protein bar, apple

1730-2000 Gym

2030 - protein shake, chicken, veggies, maybe some carbs.

Debating on wether or not to eat some cottage cheese @ 10 b4 bed, cause i’m just sleeping, seems like the only purpose it would serve is bad gas during pt.

I don’t know how you bodybuilders do it, 3500 calorie a day, i’m not even close but its a challenge to put everything in my mouth.  Currently I’m trying to come up with "the Must do" exercises with this 5×5 thing.  Like lunges for instance or calf raises, you need more reps for it to be effective i would think. So like Squat, deadlift, leg extensions but then i need an isolation exercise for my hamstring.  Man I wish i could get somebody who knows what they are doing to help me come up with an effective exercise program, i’m paying my gym but its pointless. Any Takers?
