Large Images In Profiles

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

A bug popped up today with images not being resized correctly in a couple of different locations.  This is being fixed ASAP.  Sorry for the wonkiness!  =)

UPDATE: This has been fixed.  If your profile pic is still too huge, please reupload it.  Thanks!

A Few Minor Updates

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

A few minor, yet possibly interesting, things occurred today.  First, we surpassed 19,000 active members this afternoon.  Woohoo!

Second, a minor glitch was identified where the birthdate/age field wasn’t being displayed on user profiles.  This has been fixed.  (There is an option to show/hide this in your profile - just check in your control panel.)

Third, the CBBF (Canadian Bodybuilding Federation) was added as an option in the Contest History section of user profiles.  Please let us know if we’re missing your federation!

Fourth, profile contest histories are now sorted, most recent first.  Kudos to Skippy PB for these improvements!  =)

Recent Friends w/ Comments

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

A new section has been added to the Friends Control Panel, which allows you to see who has recently added you as a friend, along with their comments (if any).  Kudos go out to BiologyBabe for helping us identify a bug with an unexpected add/remove friends redirect.  Thanks, Jaime!  =)

This morning, Skippy Von Skippy fixed the "double commenting" problem (where your comment would be posted twice).  Kudos, Skip!  =)

Disappearing Signatures = Fixed

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

For those who experienced the frustrating disappearing forum signature (and disappearing forum ignore list) problem, you’ll be glad to know that it’s been fixed.  Kudos to Skippy, Mike, and Wayne for squashing this bug.  =)

Dragon Bugs = Slain & Allayed!

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Michael B. & Scott S. have been working hard behind the scenes to fix a couple of issues that have been brought to our attention recently - the dreaded tokens, and failed blog activations for users with punctuation marks in their names.

On the token issue, actually, the root problem still hasn’t been fixed, but a temporary fix has been implemented which prevents you from losing your data.  If you get a failed save/post, and you get to the token error page, you’ll also be presented with a copy of what you were just about to post, so that you can then copy your work, start over, and then paste your work and save again (without losing all your work like before!)

This will solve LOTS of headaches until the underlying issue can be resolved.  Thanks to everyone who have reported this issue and helped us troubleshoot this mysterious issue.

For anyone who has seen the failed/repeated blog activation problem, this has been fixed.  It was only occuring to people with punctuation marks in their username.  Thanks to dragon*princess for reporting this issue!  =)

Fixed: Long Query String URL’s

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

Mike has fixed a somewhat esoteric, yet strangely potent bug in the BodyBlogs (discovered by Richard - thank you, thank you…) where if a URL contained a question mark (and hence contained a query string) and there were more than 30-40 characters after the question mark, the rest of the blog post would be broken.

This has been fixed.  So, blog away, all you long-ol’ URL-linking, query-string-writin’, power-user blogging fiends!  =)

Count Slugger & The Quote Tokens

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Mike has added the ability to change the “slug” in BodyBlog category URL’s.  This can come in handy in several situations, so if you find yourself wishing that part of your BodyBlog URL was different, try changing the slug!  This feature can be found in your BodyBlog “Manage Blog” section, under ‘Categories.’

Mike has also fixed one of those annoying token problems that some people are seeing.  (If you see more, please let us know.  We need your help in identifying these issues since they are hard to recreate sometimes!)

Comment counting on BodyBlog entries has been fixed.  (There used to be a bug where even if you deleted that first annoying default comment in your very first blog entry, it would still say you had one comment even when you had none.  This has been rectified.)

Additionally, Mike has fixed a minor blog editing annoyance with how double quotes (") and other HTML entities (ampersands, brackets, etc.) are displayed in the editing interface.  (They’re displaying properly now - thanks, Mike!)

Skippy Fixes Tuesday

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Was Tuesday broken?  Apparently.  Anyway, here are three things made better by the Skipster on this day:

1) The “reply feature on the comments page.  When you view all of your comments, the [reply] link did not work properly.  It does now.  This bug was reported by ‘boyscouT.’  And remember, Be Prepared.

2) "Big Avatar" phenomenon.  In certain situations, the forum avatar would be much larger than the 80×80 max size.  This has been found and fixed.  Hee-Yah!

3) A problem with the thumbnail settings.  One of the Photo Gallery Thumbnail settings is "Manually choose up to 2 photos to display".  That option did not work, but now it does.  Amazing, huh?  (We thought so.)

Lifting Stats Fixed

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

The Lifting Stats were not displaying the most recent value on the member’s BodySpace if they had multiple entries.  For example, if a member entered two values for Bench Press, the oldest value was displayed on the member’s BodySpace when it should have been the most recent value.

This has been fixed by Skippy.  Credit goes to boyscouT for discovering this bug.

Blog Header Font Color Oddity

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

A bizarre and seemingly random issue has cropped up where sometimes the font color in the BodyBlog header won’t display properly in some browsers under certain as-yet-unknown conditions.  We’re looking into this minor annoyance.  This blog, for instance, might appear like this:

White Header

or this:

Red Header

Weird.

Fixed: Profile Pic/Avatar Upload Issue

Monday, August 28th, 2006

As many know, there are two ways to upload your Profile Picture:

  1. Click the “Browse button and select the image off your PC.
  2. Enter the URL to the image.

There was a bug such that if you chose method number 2 you would not get an avatar in the forum.  Skippy has fixed it, however.

Credit for helping/finding this bug goes to Ashla!    =)

GMT Post Date Issue & Fix

Monday, August 28th, 2006

A potential post date issue has been discovered by Richard, and a fix was researched by Mike and is available.  Normally, the post date is based upon the server time (Pacific Time Zone).  (This is only happening, however, to a few people.)

Please contact us if your blog post dates are showing up as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).  Thanks.

Comments Open Tags Issue Resolved

Friday, August 25th, 2006

A minor bug that only manifested itself inside of the "latest bodyblog entry" section of a user’s profile (dealing with open tags) was discovered by Richard, and fixed by Scott S.  This potentially may have temporarily broke some user’s profiles, but the issue has already been resolved.

Images In Posts Now Better Supported

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

A fix was implemented today dealing with automatic resizing of images in individual posts.  (Yes, images are allowed in posts.)  If an image is wider than the maximum of 395 pixels wide, it’ll automatically be scaled down to fit.   Blog away, fearless blogger!   =)   Kudos to Michael on this one.

Security Fix

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

A security fix was implemented today to do with CSS positioning.  Sorry, all you BodySpace hackers!   =)  Kudos to Richard for this one.

Clickable Profile Pics & Most Recent Values Fixed

Monday, August 21st, 2006

Cool functionality has been added by Scott S. (Skippy) to the main profile images: they’re now enlargeable.  Click on an image to view the larger version!

Note: if yours isn’t yet clickable, please reupload it.  (This feature was applied only to images uploaded after the feature was added.  Images uploaded before won’t be clickable.)

Scott also fixed a bug in the BodyStats and the LiftingStats modules, where the most recent value of a particular category wasn’t being displayed on the main profile page (like it should’ve been).  For example, if you had entered for Bench:

2006-07-01  225 lbs
2006-01-01  200 lbs

then the value being displayed on the main profile page should’ve been 225 lbs, since it’s the most recent.  One of our forum members discovered that this wasn’t the case, and, in fact, the oldest value was being displayed.  This however, has now been fixed.  =)
