"The BodyPoints system is currently down as we fix a few small bugs. Check back soon!"
1/11/08 Update: BodyPoints are currently broken, but should be back online next week sometime.
1/17/08 Update: BodyPoints are still currently broken, but should be back online next week sometime.
1/31/08 Update: BodyPoints are still currently broken, and it turns out that it’s not something we can easily "fix" so instead the whole Points module is being rewritten from square one. Thus, it’ll be at least another month before they’re available again, I’m thinking March 1st at the earliest. We’re also working on a way to ‘compensate’ everyone that is currently active for the lost points while it’s off. Stay tuned.
2/21/08 Update: March 1st is looking more like April 1st.

Many of you have reported and/or noticed some minor interruptions in service this morning. We have been working on fixing several BodySpace bugs this morning, which did disrupt some functions for a few minutes here and there. Some temporarily couldn’t log in, some temporarily ‘lost’ their friends list, some couldn’t find their profiles, etc., but everything should be back up and working again.
We apologize for the inconveniences, and hope that our fixes today will produce a more stable environment for everyone on BodySpace. Thanks again for your patience and understanding!

Kudos go out to Danielle for fixing the annoying ampersand (”& amp;” instead of “&”) problem that many of us have seen before on lots of people’s profiles. If you happen to see any stray “amp’s” on anyone’s profile, please let us know!
10/31 UPDATE: Another minor bug was squashed yesterday, too, involving the inability to enter a decimal number into the bodyfat percentage area in the BodyStats module. This field now accepts bodyfat percentage values containing decimal points (9.5%, etc.) Thanks, Danielle!

Kudos go out to Kelly for fixing a longstanding problem with the Search By Location section of the Advanced Search page on BodySpace. We used to have it, then it was disabled for performance reasons, and now it’s all been optimized, and it’s now back!

Enjoy!
UPDATED History:
10/30/2007 - Location searching reenabled (again).
10/20/2007 - Location searching re-disabled.
10/10/2007 - Location searching reenabled.
5/15/2007 - Location searching was disabled.
12/8/2006 - Advanced Searching (including by location) was introduced.

Kudos go out to Danielle and Michael for fixing a longstanding problem with the Visitor Comments module in the BodySpace Control Panel.
The problem was that the really popular BodySpace members (e.g., ChickenTuna, KatNap, DawnMelanie, et al) had too many visitor comments to load when that module was clicked on. A limit has been placed on the query, where only the most recent 1,000 comments are now returned, so that page should work again for everyone, including the most popular users!

SEPT. 7th UPDATE: Okay, this is fixed for real now. Sorry for the additional delay.

After an extraordinary effort expended by our programming and hosting teams, we are happy to announce that the outdated avatar issue has been fixed!
If you’re still seeing your old avatar in the forums, please change your BodySpace profile pic to refresh your avatar (force an update). And, as always, please let us know if you encounter any other problems. Thanks for everyone’s patience on this longstanding issue!!

Ever since the colossal meltdown of March 2007, the stalking counts (in the friends module) have seemed to have been a little off for some people.
I just got word from lead BodySpace programmer Skippy that this bug is now fixed. He cautions, however, that “the counts are only updated when a member adds or removes a friend. Both friends are updated. So if someone sees that the count is incorrect, they need to add/remove a friend and it will fix the problem.”
Kudos, Skip!

A minor bug has been squashed which was causing consternation amongst some BodySpace members, wherein metric lifting stats were incorrectly being calculated.
The problem manifested itself when the logged-in user chose to display measures in metric units. All measurements are stored in US values and then converted at the time of display, if necessary. There were some issues resulting in roundoff errors that were corrected, and the order in which the values were converted was corrected.
Kudos to Skippy for the fix, and to the several members who had alerted us to this problem (most recently Dominik)!

Popular free email providers, Hotmail and MSN have been blocking our automated activation code emails, so lots of people who have been having problems activating can trace their problems to this specific issue.
We’ve just gone through and programatically activated everyone up to this point with a non-activated account who registered with a Hotmail address.
Thus, if you find yourself in this boat, please log out and log back in - and you should find yourself now fully activated!
UPDATE: We worked with Hotmail/MSN, as well as popular ISP, Comcast, to resolve this issue, and they are no longer blocking our emails.

Well, as everyone already knows, BodySpace had a hugemongous database meltdown yesterday with our membership system, starting at 2:00 p.m. MDT. The site was completely offline for well over the better part of the afternoon and night.
The entire BodySpace site was therefore taken down until things could be fixed. Kudos to our programmers for pulling an all-nighter to get things back up and running.
Things are getting back to normal now. We are working to restore all mixed-up data into the correct profiles, etc., so please wait another day before reporting any weird info, to see it if gets automatically cleared up. If you still have lingering issues after the weekend, however, please report them. Thanks.
We apologize profusely for the hassle!!
UPDATE: It’s now Monday, April 2, 2007, and we’re still seeing some lingering problems with messed up friends (stalking, fan clubs), profile pics for wrong people on profiles, and missing blogs. These issues are being worked on right now. Please don’t report these issues - we’re already aware of them.
UPDATE #2: It’s now Wednesday, April 4, 2007, and we’re still seeing some lingering blog problems for a few people with missing posts, unactivated blogs (which were previously active), and permissions errors. If you’re seeing any of these or other problems, please report them ASAP so we can fix them for you. Thanks!
UPDATE #3: It’s now Friday, April 6, 2007, and most problems that we know of are now fixed. Yesterday, we cleared up a bunch of lost blog post problems with one fell swoop, fixing hundreds of lost blogs in an instant.
We are, however, aware of a tricky minor problem with the friends module where you still might not be able to remove some people from your stalking list, but this is being worked on. If you’re still seeing any of these or any other problems (such as wrong slugs [URL’s], your previously changed username reverting back, etc.), please report them so we can fix them for you ASAP!

Skippy squashed a minor bug this morning involving botched gallery pic thumbnails breaking the layout of BodySpace profiles. Kudos to h@rdc0re for inadvertantly bringing this to our attention.

I’ve compiled a little list of known BodySpace issues which we’re working to resolve. Pretty dry reading for anyone other than us, but available nonetheless:

Our recent forum software update introduced a glitch into how forum avatars are displayed for some users. This will be fixed shortly.
UPDATE: Fixed. If your avatar still doesn’t show up, reupload your main profile pic (or just change it), and check the "Display my Avatar in the Forum" checkbox.

This afternoon, Michael, Richard, and Wayne fixed a bug that was causing blog images to appear only as thumbnails in certain instances (i.e., when editing with Internet Explorer). Kudos go out to Anita Ramsey for helping us discover this problem! =)

Many BodySpace bloggers may have discovered that our timezone settings are off on the BodyBlogs. For some reason, the time on the server seems to be set exactly 1.5 hours into the future, so… if you post a new blog post, it may not show up until an hour and 30 minutes from now. This will be fixed tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Admiral Skippy rolled the hard six and fixed/added about a bazillion little things today that all add up into a smoother, easier-to-use site. For instance, a post count has been added more prominantly on profile pages that makes it easier to see (at a glance) if someone has an active blog or not:
On the BodySpace main page, image dimension information was added to the image thumbnails to keep them from being displayed too large (which has been an occasional annoyance over the past few days for several people).
A bug was fixed where you couldn’t add a member to your forum “Ignore List” directly from their BodySpace profile (it would incorrectly send you to the “Add Friends” page). Clicking this will now finally work:
LOL. =)

A bug popped up today with images not being resized correctly in a couple of different locations. This is being fixed ASAP. Sorry for the wonkiness! =)
UPDATE: This has been fixed. If your profile pic is still too huge, please reupload it. Thanks!

A few minor, yet possibly interesting, things occurred today. First, we surpassed 19,000 active members this afternoon. Woohoo!
Second, a minor glitch was identified where the birthdate/age field wasn’t being displayed on user profiles. This has been fixed. (There is an option to show/hide this in your profile - just check in your control panel.)
Third, the CBBF (Canadian Bodybuilding Federation) was added as an option in the Contest History section of user profiles. Please let us know if we’re missing your federation!
Fourth, profile contest histories are now sorted, most recent first. Kudos to Skippy PB for these improvements! =)
