BodySpace Member Killed in Line of Duty

We received this email today and are posting it here with our deepest condolences:

"My brother, SFC David J. Todd (’SFCTODD‘ on BodySpace), was killed in the line of fire in Afghanistan on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 after coming back from a mission.

I would be honored if you could post something on your website about him. He is a remarkable person who LOVED serving his country and of course, bodybuilding… He was a sergeant in the Army and has left behind a wonderful wife and 5 beautiful kids.”

David Todd

He is from San Antonio, Texas, but was stationed in New Orleans for over 10 years. His burial will take place this week in New Orleans. My brother and I are (were) huge fans of your website! And I will continue to be…

Very sad hearing the news. But I am proud of him that he lived and died for his country. Guys you all don’t know the life of soldiers. They have only one word for us: " You can sleep there comfortably, Bcoz I am awake here for your safety." In this occassion I salute soldier TODD and all other soldiers who are born to even die for thier country. Also I would be happy if I could do something for TODD’s family and I urge all of you to do the same- Sallu.Sharon, INDIA.

I am based at SFC Todd’s base here in Afghanistan and attended two memorial services in his memory. We have three gyms and one is now known as the "Todd Fitness Center." I never met him but he was known for his time in the gym and contacting his family on the phone. He was a good husband, father and soldier. Face to the fight.

I have read each each one of your condolences and as David’s mother, your words and praise bring me such comfort. I wish each and everyone of you had known my Dave. He was such a good man, always with a smile and ready to help his followman. He loved his family so much, God his creator, and the country he served and he believed in the mission. I cannot tell you or describe the sorrow our family is feeling he had so much to come home to and he just felt that when his tour was over he would be coming home to see his kids graduate from high school. He was a GREAT father and husband, son, and brother. Thank you once again, for your sympathies expressed and for your Prayers. God Bless, mom of David Todd

Keep his memory alive and take joy in the fact that you had him in your life for the short amount of time that you did. You are all probably better people because of him and the joy that he brought to your lives. You are in my prayers.

  37. mary Todd Says:

I visit this website often and I am deeply moved by all those still sending condolences to our family. It will be 2 months, in Oct 20th, that my son left this world and I tell you all, it is the most painful experience one can have in their life. So many things left unsaid, so many hugs and kisses to give him, so many things to do together. So, tonight hug your love ones, tell them how much you love them, I just wish I could still do that with our son and hear his voice, laughter, and see his wonderful smile! and something he would tell me when he was in Iraq and Afghanistan "don’t worry mom, I am ok". Thank you all for your msg’s and Prayers SFC David Todd’s Mom

  38. SFC Tucker Says:

SFC Todd was my gunner during out tour in Afghanistan, he was there for me when I got blown up in Delaram, I wish I could have been there on his day of need. I miss him and Pray he watches over me as I re-deploy back to theater to do this again for another year. Rest Easy Todd, you are truely missed.

  39. mary todd Says:

It has been a year since our son was taken from this earth. It is a time of the question "why"? Why him? I miss him pure and simple, I miss his laugh, his hugs, his ever loving ways, his calls. I miss my son, how does one survive this pain, i keep asking God, how does one go on? I wish he was here with us, God how I long to hold my son.
    Love you son, Mom

  40. mary todd Says:

SFC Tucker, you have a friend here, email me any time, please and if there is anything you need while your stay in Afghanistan, all you have to do is ask. Know this David’s oldest son is in Basic Trng with the US Army, he is following his father’s footsteps and felt very comfortable with his new life as he "slipped" his Army boots and gear, being closer to his father. I Pray for your safety and ask God to watch over you. Rest assure my Dave will be there watching over you. God Bless and God be with you. David’s mom, Mary
