Wanna Be Featured In A Magazine Ad?

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I’m posting this notice on behalf of Paul Tarantino from our Marketing Dept.:

"Would you be interested in appearing in a Bodybuilding.com magazine ad?  We are trying to focus some of our advertising efforts on the type of people who use our website and are part of our online community.

Do you have a great build but are not in the fitness industry (i.e., supplement company or personal trainer?)  We’re looking to showcase those of us who do not work in gyms!  We’re looking for the guy or gal who holds a "regular" job, but still has time to train and keep fit.

We’re looking for people who are reaching their goals in our Bodybuilding.com/BodySpace community; those who look great and take their body and health seriously.

We want to show that great bodies and reaching fitness goals can be achieved no matter what you do - especially if you have a desk job!

Do you have a great story to tell?   Did bodybuilding.com help you reach your goals?  We want to hear from you.

If you’re interested in working with us, please sign up in this forum thread:

Thanks!”

BodySpace Featured @ Internet Retailer

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Internet Retailer Magazine featured Bodybuilding.com and BodySpace in a recent article about social networking.  Here’s an excerpt:

“More e-retailers are checking out social networking as a way to enhance their site experience, improve brand awareness, increase traffic and, ultimately, boost sales. At Bodybuilding.com, customers are checking out each other via the health and fitness merchant’s social network, BodySpace, where users can post photos of themselves, describe their workout goals and blog about their progress.”

“Bodybuilding.com did not take a wait-and-see approach to social networking. It dove in a little over a year ago with BodySpace, amassing 117,000 active users since, and now is reporting positive results.”

“We are building something that is not just based on making money,” [CEO Ryan DeLuca] adds. “Everything we add to our site is based on helping visitors reach their goals. Helping our visitors stick to their programs and reach their goals will ultimately lead to much higher revenue, a much more valuable brand based on emotional connections, and more profitability based on increased customer loyalty.”

Minor Interruptions In Service Earlier

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Many of you have reported and/or noticed some minor interruptions in service this morning.  We have been working on fixing several BodySpace bugs this morning, which did disrupt some functions for a few minutes here and there.  Some temporarily couldn’t log in, some temporarily ‘lost’ their friends list, some couldn’t find their profiles, etc., but everything should be back up and working again.

We apologize for the inconveniences, and hope that our fixes today will produce a more stable environment for everyone on BodySpace.  Thanks again for your patience and understanding!

Problem Uploading/Deleting Gallery Pics

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Yes, we are currently experiencing a problem with the photo galleries, wherein some users cannot delete existing photos from their galleries, whilst other new users cannot upload any:

"/home/ryan/forum/htdocs/photo/uploads/3848593:
Error creating directory (check permissions)"

This is being worked on, and should be fixed within a day or two, so please hang tight.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

(For those interested, this is a direct result of BodySpace being so popular, so much so, in fact, that we’re running into minor scalability problems such as running into theoretical (and obviously real-world) file system limits on the number of subdirectories within a folder, etc.  We’ve encountered this problem before under a different set of circumstances, and the fix is underway, but just takes time.)

11/08 Update #1:  We are planning to implement the fix for this issue on Monday, 11/12.

11/08 Update #2:  Oops, it’s already fixed!  (Thanks Zeke and Cory!)

New Personal Record (PR) Tracking!

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

We have implemented a "Personal Records" feature within the BodySpace Workout Tracker.  This feature will inform you each time that you achieve a new PR (personal record) for an exercise.

There is also a module on the Bodyspace main page that now shows the most recent personal records achieved.  Enjoy!  Smiley
