Service Outage #2
BodySpace and the forums were/are acting weird early this morning. Some users saw a black screen with a ‘BodySpace.com is undergoing maintenance’ message, while others saw the dreaded MySQL connection error or simply got a standard ‘connection timed out’ error message in their browser.
This problem is being remedied, but in the mean time, BodySpace is back up, but the forums remain closed. Watch here for updates. Thank you for your patience.
UPDATE #1: the outages were caused by power failures at our remote data center in California. The UPS’s (backup batteries) didn’t work, and by the time the generators kicked in, the damage to the database tables was already done. Repair is nearly completed, however. Most of the forum functionality is back up, but the photo galleries are still unavailable.
UPDATE #2: some of the forum functionality is back down, but photo galleries are now available.
UPDATE #3: the forums seem to be working again. We’ve noticed a minor replication issue with PM’s - BodySpace might say you have X amount of new, unread PM’s (personal messages), but in the forum inbox, there are none. This will be fixed shortly.
UPDATE #4: everything should be fixed and working now, except for the search feature which was wiped clean as a result of the power outage last night. Since this gets recrawled each night, this will automatically be fixed late tonight. If you notice anything else, however, that’s still not working, please let us know. Thanks!
