… and ate very healthy food (lots of fruits and veggies), and walked about 90 min. a day on the beach (a lot with heavy backpack) and am down to 251. Next goal — 240!

… I was glad that my increase in B/F from 26.1 to 26.6 wasn’t worse.

I think I’ve been to the gym a total of 5 days over the past 30. I was going 5 days a week before my trip. I AM putting in a lot of hours out in the yard now. Thus, I shouldn’t be surprised that my weight isn’t increasing. But I need to drop 40 or more so pounds, so being on a plateau isn’t satisfying. Let’s see how the next 5 days turn out.

Today was leg day, and I was having a great workout. But during my second set of seated calf raises I strained my left calf. I play it safe and suspended my workout. I’m too old to take chances.

I took a photograph of myself nude from the back. The word "vomit" came to mind. Lord, it’s NOT a pretty sight. Of course, the physiques I admire on this website have B/F ratios at least 10% lower than mine. It’s clear I have the musculature. Plan A — Increase cardio and decrease daily calories — simple and effective.

A beautiful statewide tradition here is "Virginia Garden Week." Cities throughout our Commonwealth spruce up, and several houses in each locality open up their homes and gardens for public tours to benefit the local garden clubs. Three houses in my neighborhood are on our city’s tour, and everybody is out this weekend to optimize their houses’ "curb appeal." Well, I was out working for about 3 hours and stepped inside to rest. As I reached for a glass I noticed my forearm has developed a muscular form. It’s not like Schwarzenegger’s, but it’s definitely muscular. That’s cool, and keeps me motivated.

I like my gym a lot. And most of the guys in the weight room are serious about their workouts, polite and thoughtful. Save for the horrible music, there’s a normal din of breathing, chatter and equipment. It’s all pleasant enough.
But there’s a guy who comes in periodically and Lord, but does he moan and groan during his workouts… especially leg exercises. I mean this guy is LOUD. All the other guys look at each other and roll their eyes. This jerk has no idea what we all think of him.
It’s amazing that I haven’t asked him one time in a loud voice, "Where’s the elephant?", to which he’d reply, "What do you mean? What elephant?", to which I’d reply, "The one you just gave birth to!"
