My progress so far in Iraq…

March 15, 2009

Well I’ve been deployed to Iraq now for about 6 months.  I’ve made some pretty good progress so far.  I was stuck at 195 lbs for about 2 years and could not break that plateau for anything.  Once I got to Iraq I started taking mass gainer and almost stopped doing cardio all together.  My lack of purposeful cardio was offset by the fact that my day-to-day activities kept me moving around a lot.  I don’t like to sit still in the first place and having plenty of things to do while deployed helped me out.  My guys started working out a lot in the gym too.  Some of them have made HUGE gains in the gym that I wish I could still make.  They have inspired me to work harder though because I can’t let them out do me! I’ve gained about 10 lbs so far, but now I’m into my cutting phase before heading back home for the summer.  It normally doesn’t take me long to get shredded, and I hope this year is no exception.  I’m relying on high reps and increased cardio to get me there.  I still want to stay at or above 200 lbs but at 8% body fat.  I’m pretty close to that now, but maintaining the weight is going to be the hard part.  Mixing up supersets with some heavier workouts now and then should help, but we’ll see.  I’ll definitely be tracking my progress through pictures and posting them on here.

Cramps

August 25, 2008

For a while now after my chest and bicep workouts these muscle groups have been cramping after resting for about an hour.  I can’t figure out what it could be.  I’m taking my multi, getting plenty of water, eating…etc.  I think I may be overtraining but I don’t think that my workout has been too extreme.  I’m doing maybe 20-23 sets for each, with reps between 4 and 20.  Anybody have any idea what this could be from?
