Shin Splints Ouch

Well I hit my route today and not even half way the pain shot up my leg like I was stabbed.  I had to slow my pace and eventually finished the circuit with a slow walk I am going to ice my leg down and hit the circuit again tomorrow.  I have conflicting reports on the distance of the circuit one car says 3 miles one says 2.3 miles that’s a huge difference.  I do have a GPS unit but it is in storage I am heading over today to get it I might do another walk of the route tonight to use the GPS and see what it actually comes up as.  Hopefully it’s closer to 3 then 2 but even if it is not if I hit the circuit tomorrow I will still have my 15 miles which is all I asked for.

12 Miles already and planned 3 today!

Well my plan was 15 miles by Sunday I might actually get 18 miles.  I even missed a day because of Jury Duty but I still got it done I did 6 miles yesterday to get up to the 12 needed today.  It sucks because Wednesday I did a double workout back and biceps along with legs.  My legs are screaming as I did 350 lbs with deep squats with xreps at the end.  I feel like I can barley walk.  I have to keep it up hitting shoulders, triceps, and abs today.  I will be lifting tomorrow and will hopefully hit the pavement for some extra miles as well I can’t wait to step on the scale Monday I am sure it will be even heavier then last week.  I know you are like "Why would it be heavier?" Well I had several weeks of poor workouts I have been drinking water like crazy and I went back on Creatine so I am expecting a small gain of about 2-5 lbs.  Although I think my last Monday weigh in was a little off so we will see.

Well my last real workout was Dec 16th when I contracted the Flu followed by the wonderful sinus cold followed by another bout with the flu.  Did I mention that I have kids?  Man kids bring home all kinds of illness and sometimes you just can’t avoid it.  I think the first bout with the flu knocked me all out of whack and just made me vulnerable to everything else.  Well the good news is I am back and although I have not had any real decent workouts I still maintained good muscle.  I did a great workout today and plan on following up with a bit more cardio this afternoon and evening.

Workout Chest / Triceps / Abs:

Inc DB Press 60 lbs x 20 reps, 60 x 15 reps, 80 x 6 x 6 xreps

Inc DB Flys 80 lbs x 5 xreps

Dec DB Press 60 lbs x 12, 80 x 8 super set with Dec DB Flys 80 lbs x 6 xreps

Rope Push Downs 30 lbs x 12, 50 x 8 x 6 xreps

Behind the Head Tri Ext 55 lbs x 10, 60 lbs x 8 x 4 xreps

Straight bar Dec Crunches 10, 9 xreps

Rev Bench Crunches 20, 15

Superball Crunches 26

Reverse Bridges 25 lbs x 12 x 3 xreps, 70 lbs x 16 x 4 xreps

All work timed with 60 seconds or less reset between sets.

This morning I did 3 miles of highspeed walking still batteling shin splints.  I plan on getting 15 miles this week anything above that will be bonus. Doing a little extra cardio with my son this evening playing around at the park for 60 mins.
