Today is my Birthday

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Well not much about fitness today I am doing a huge arm routine still eating clean a bit off today as I have had a horrible start. My work is driving me a bit insane today lots of sev 1 issues and a co-worker is trying very hard to get me fired.

Workout: Trying to kill my biceps and triceps I think it will be easy to focus today as I can just use my co-worker for anger.

Diet: Lots of protein shakes as I have not had time to meal build today.

Mind: All over the place as I got his with 3 tons of bricks this morning with sev 1 and these co-worker issues.

Great day!  REALLY!  Can I get a rain check on the cake and party and have it twice as much next year?

On my way to the 400 club!

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Well I hit a few more mile stones this week first off I did a 400 lbs squat after doing several partials I just felt great so I did it. It is very good to be back over 400 lbs on the squats my legs are fuller and stronger and a bit sore but not too bad. I also broke through 285 on the bench and hit 290 could have gone for 295 but I think we will go straight for 300 in two weeks. Next week is a volume approach so high reps at a lower weight going to aim for several sets of 20 reps at 225 lbs.

My health is good although I got to lay off the cigars my wife’s birthday and a friend in need have pushed me to 5 cigars in a single week. I think I will be staying away for at least a couple of weeks. I will be heading to AZ next week and plan to change the diet to a moderate mix to handle the travel. I will than be going to Florida for a week to see my boss.

Tomorrow is April 25th and I will be 33… :-(   I am getting older!  I was hoping that wouldn’t happen.

Diet: Super clean zero non-spiking GI elements you can not get any cleaner than I have been eating. I am sticking to brown rice lean ground turkey, egg whites, oat meal, and protein shakes.

Workout: My workouts have been simple but intense for leg day I did just squats pyramiding up and down for nearly 12 sets. I did the same with my chest several sets 9 going up and back down in weight.

Mind: I have been taking time every day normally in the morning to focus on what is important and what I want to do to make it through the day eating clean and being true to myself.

Have a good one!

Long time no blog!

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Well I know it has been a while from my last blog.  Last week I removed my diet restrictions and removed my cardio still lifted heavy and tracked my progress.   Today I went with a zero GI spiking diet which is not much different to what I was doing before except now I take my coffee black no creamer and no fruits in the morning just oat meal.  The plan will be stay on this diet just for this week.  I will be going keeping my diet as close to my old diet following this week.

So basically this week is a test I am doing 30 mins of cardio firs thing in the morning than lifting than another 35-60 min session of cardio in the evening.

Today was back/shoulders/abs

Diet:
Zero GI spiking, brown rice, oat meal, lean chicken breast, lean turkey meat, protein shakes and some green veggies.

Weight Training:
Volume was the key of the day.  I really did explosive training with nearly 20 reps really got my back and shoulders pumped.  Abs were done with a super ball and a weighted ball just to make it more fun.

Mind:
I did some clarity work this morning while on the elip but really need to refocus and make my self hypnosis/meditation a priority.

Have a good workout.

Attacking Each Day

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I am treating everyday like a contest.  A contest to see who wins out the demons or me.  I am starting to have a good track record of beating the demons.  Today I did back and shoulders and well Dead Lifts were the first order of business although I could have gone for a lot more I figured 6 reps at 345 lbs wasn’t a bad final set.  My friend says he can see dramatic changes in my upper body in just the week he has not seen me.  I am going hard and eating right and I have to take it outside on the road.  Today I am heading to Hooters for a pre-Angel game dinner.  I am planning on 6 oz of chicken in my salad.

Diet:
2 lbs of chicken, 2 bowls of oat meal, 2 cups of egg whites, 2 protein shakes, 3 cups of brown rice (cooked), lots of green veggies. Mmmmmm yummy.

Workout:
Well Back and Shoulders I didn’t do any biceps today as I will be hitting them to insane levels on Friday.  Dead lifts, DB Rows, Wide Lat pull downs, Standing Bar Bell presses, side lateral raises, and rear dealt flys.  Go big or go home oh wait I am home.

Mind:
I am going to make new adjustments to my self hypnosis I want to add more moral comments it is important to remain truthful especially to yourself.  I am going to keep re-enforcing my mindset for healthy eating I want to get to a point where even my "cheat" days are still fairly healthy.

Have a great workout and remember to attack the weights.  Don’t take anything for the pain you need that pain as a reminder that you worked hard.

Total Chest Destruction

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Keeping it short today but more destruction on the body. My friend said last night that he thinks my body is in constant rebuild mode. He can not believe the changes he sees in my body and only in 3 days. I really am hitting super hard and keeping it super clean on the diet. Today was a bit of a struggle for my food intake. I made plans for one of my meals to be in town as I had to go to a clients today. The problem was the meeting ran long and I was more than an hour over due for my next meal. For my workouts I hit new high marks moving my bench press right on up to 275 lbs with partials done at 300 lbs. It was a long slow pyramid up and down I followed up by some flat DB fly and pull overs. I hit the Triceps with some super heavy rope push downs low rep high weight. My chest feels pumped still and I did my workout this morning. I wanted to do cardio today but I will have to watch the munchkins why the wife hits the gym. I will do cardio and the dry sauna tomorrow.

Diet:
Other than a little late on my 4th meal of the day spot on perfect loads of clean carbs, good vegetables, lean ground turkey, a couple of protein shakes and lean steak.

Workout:
I am doing pyramids now and I am liking the results. I find that I am getting better size with low reps high sets and really heavy weight. Each set is like 2-3 reps with top of pyramid being 1-2 reps. I could have gotten to 285 lbs on my bench today if I would have controlled my descent better.

Mind:
Diet and the mind are the keys to the success the mind has to be on the diet and workouts. I find the diet alone is like a second job and you really need to work for it if you want it. My self hypnosis has not changed same script just seems to be working better and better.

Good workouts,
James

Out of Iron!

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Out of Iron kind of like out of service.  No April Fools jokes for me today just great workouts and super clean eating.  I did come upon a mile stone yesterday which was insane I am going to have to buy more weights.  Yesterday was my Back / Shoulder / Bicep day and I started off huge.  I hit 100 lbs DB rows which is the largest DB’s I have any bigger and it’s off to the gym I was trying to avoid that place for real workouts.  I also did impressive 60 lb DB rear delt flys I did 40 lb, 20 lb (checking my form), than I dropped two sets at 60 lb.  I could have gone up but I was really focusing on my form.  I felt great afterwards like I was really building some great quality muscle hopefully I can keep it up and add some more bulk to my arms on Friday.

I did have some issues yesterday after my workout while in the shower I started thinking about my father and how he died.  I am not sure why it popped into my head but it did cause me to hug my kids a bit more last night and freak out just a bit.

Diet:
Amazing job on my diet 200g of carbs 450g of protein and less then 40g of fat.   Brown rice, lean chicken breast, broccoli, asparagus, protein shake, egg whites, and oat meal made up most of the days meals.   I did have some lean steak chunks at one point they tasted fairly good but being so lean I should have marinated them in some lemon juice.

Workouts:
Total pump I did a great job blasting each body part my back is a little sore but not a bad soreness.  I did such a great job on everything I passed 155 lbs on my shoulder press which is great as well.   Side lat raises jumped into the 40 lbs DB area also a first so just kicked ass and took names over all.

Mind:
No meditation yesterday just kind of spent time with the kids.  I tried to meditate in the dry sauna but some guy had his headphones on so loud I could hear every word the band was singing.

Great works just push hard.
