A trying time in my life

Monday, July 30th, 2007

I am fighting a multi front war.  My Dad is still doing really poorly, my own health is in question, and I am trying to lose weight and get even healthier.  I just have to stop giving excuses and get it done I am lifting tonight I should have woke up early and did cardio but I didn’t.  I keep saying I will but I don’t I am just so tired and it doesn’t help that my wife and I don’t get home until late and then have to get stuff done for our two kids and don’t get to bed until almost 12 midnight.

I just have to stop complaining and get it done I know I know!!!

Hey guys…

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Well my Dad is still hanging in there but no thanks to the damn VA they have stopped treating him and they don’t even know what’s WRONG!!!!  Oh man I can’t even think about this it gets me crazy sitting in my chair.  I will never let this type of failed health hit me I am going to work and work and work and work until I am healthier then ever before.  If things could be bad enough the doctors found no bacteria in my sample given…what does that mean well that means I have to come in for serious testing.

I start on Wednesday but I have enough time to do some cardio just before I go in.  So hey give me some luck I need it and I just can’t stand not knowing my health status.

Workout down to two a week

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Well after seeing great results I have dropped my full body workout down to two days a week putting at least 2 days in between workouts.  You may ask why well I am trying to give my body time to recover this new strategy seems to be paying off as instantly I have noticed my bench, curl, and overall endurance come up.  I have also added back in my cardio workouts in between.  The elliptical machine took a bad first day I knocked off one of the pedals no fault of the machine as I put it together.  The problem was a bolt that they highlighted was not to be over tightened well I took it too serious and didn’t tighten enough so I put the machine back together and have had no problems.

My kids are also going to be adding to the fun I am getting our wagon into the action when my wife and I get home at night she fixes dinner while I take the kids to bottom of our street which happens to be a small hill.  I tie a rope to the wagon and have made a rope harness using some of my climbing gear and I run up the hill toeing the kids up behind me.  The kids thinks this is a blast and laugh and giggle all the way up behind me.  By the time dinner is finished so am I.

Here is some new advice make sure you enjoy life I am sitting here on our back balcony after taking a shower and enjoying a nice wine.  Keep it fun people.

The Elliptical Machine is here!

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

So I decided to get an elliptical I didn’t do my normal dragged out process I followed the advice of one of my friends instead.  I normally do months of research followed by weeks of hunting for best prices, followed by even more should I or should I not pull the trigger.  Well my friends advice was simple he said find one that feels good and is extra cheap.  His theory is if it feels good and you use it then you will get the use out of it.  See he thinks that even if it breaks I can buy four or five of the cheap and feels good models before I even come close to the top of the line priced models.  He is write I bought the machine today used it a bit tonight and was really impressed with how it felt I tested it out at the store liked how my strides felt on it and liked how I felt using it.  Total cost out the door $300 the top of the line unites are are all $2000 and up.  I could 6 of these for that price and I am sure I am going to get at least a year of use out of this unit.  Good stuff will update next week with a new photo showing my latest progress.

Happy 4th of July

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Had a great workout this morning drinking lots of water and overall just enjoying the day.  My workout today was another full body workout I feel really good about it but I did have something happening on Monday (more on that later).  Today’s workout I of course varied things up but here is the basics.

Chest - Inclined Chest press

Back - Lat Pull downs

Triceps -  declined skull crushers

Biceps - Spider Curls

Shoulders - Front raises (Arnold style so just a bit above parallel)

Legs - Squats (really the only thing I don’t change)

In addition I did a warm-up of jump rope for about 10-15 minutes.  Now back to what happened on Monday I worked out on Monday night felt great woke up on Tuesday with blood in the urine.  Very visible blood of course in the morning this was caused by dried blood still in the urethra.  I instantly panicked and headed directly for urgent care they found only small amounts of blood in my urine by this time and found a small amount of bacteria.  So I was put on antibiotics but they also sent it out for a culture I am preying for nothing, but this is pretty scary.  So yesterday other then in the morning I had no signs of blood.  I got up this morning again no signs of blood I did my workout and boom blood has anyone else ever had this?  I don’t see to much on this other then the KidneyFoundation.org makes mention of it on the front page saying there is all kinds of reasons for blood in the urine most common is from working out.  I find that hard to believe.

Anyone else got some feedback for me?

On the road again.

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Well finished today strong I did a 10 minute warm-up of jump rope.  I followed it up with my good night full body workout.  I will rotate what types of exercises I do for each body part but the plan pretty much works out to the following.

Chest, Bicep, Triceps, Back, Shoulders, and I finish off with my legs.

Week 1 so far on schedule.  My diet today consisted mainly of seafood, with some rice, I did a protein shake and fruit in the morning.  Tonight I had some lean meat along with some green peas.  I will keep everyone up to date with progress photos.

Best,

James
