Great weekend training.  we did an outdoor power work out.  consisting of lifting fallen trees, running in the streams, swimming in 45 degree water and running hills. we also found an old tractor tire for flip and deadlifts. beaten and bruised makes for an extreme day.  this is how you work out when you spend a weekend camping with fellow commited friends.

Have a laugh at my expense

April 16, 2009

I love to laugh and to be honest I don’t mind when others can have a laugh at my expense.

So if you look at my profile you will see that I have recently begun competing in strongman competitions.  I have some of the gear, but I’m always on the lookout for new tools to train with.  I had noticed on my way home from work the past few days that as I got out of town there were a few tractor tires sitting in a field and they seemed to be quite a bit larger then the one I have.  I went to the home on the property and asked if I could have one.  the owner said it would not be a problem. I put my SUV in 4wd and drove into the field to pick one up.

A couple of disclaimers here.  I’m not from the country.  I’ve only been in oklahoma a few years and I’m not a real good judge of size when it comes to tractor tires.  When i get to the field I realize that the wheel is still in the tire and after quite a bit of work I come to the conclusion that this weights approx. 700+ lbs.

Me being me I flip the tire up so that it is leaning on the back of my SUV.  I grunt and groan until I get the tire wedge into the back of my vehicle only to realize that it will not fit.  me once again be stubborn try to force it in and proceed to tear my cargo shorts from the belt all the way down the back across my butt to the cuff.  exposing my boxer briefs to the highway during rush hour where traffic is stopped.

I finally gave up.  kicked the tire out of my car and drove home.  I later called a friend with a truck and we went back and go my new training tool.  this my friends is the price we pay to become strongman.  Hope I made you laugh. The plus to all this was that I was able to lift the 700 lb. tire off the ground, using leverage, but it was still an accomplishment

Training is going really well.  I love the new workout and having a training partner who wants to succeed as badly as I do is a huge help.  This month should begin to produce the results that I’m looking for.  I am still having trouble cutting the body fat around my abs, but I am seeing new levels of muscularity everywhere else.  I just keep telling myself that there is only 6 more weeks of winter and then I should be able to get outside and crosstrain in order to improve cutting, and this will also be when I will increase reps again to ensure that I accomplish this.  Thanks to all the support from friends I’ve managed to continue training in spite of a insense six months.

Fitness Industry

March 28, 2008

Getting into fitness industry.

I am intrigued by an industry that I love.  My struggle lies in where to begin.  My idea is fairly simple and is based around the idea of creating some where for people that take pride in their health to relax without all the temptations of starbucks.  I ‘ve got a plan together, but I just don’t know how well it would do in a state like oklahoma.  We have a tendency to be such an unhealthy state.  Fitness is not real high on the priorities list of people here.  If I was still in California I may be more inclined to go for it.   let me know if anyone has any thoughts.
