After my workout I had a shake w/ some oats.  I haven’t had them in a while and I think that they really upset my stomach.  It’s been hurting for the past hour.  Does anyone else experience this from raw oats?

Today I had a pretty good workout. heres what I did.

Deadlift 10 X 135, 8 X 185, 6 X 205, 5 X 225 …. it wasn’t very hard but i’ve been known to have lower back problems so i took it easy

dumbell rows: 10 X 30, 8 X 40, 6 X 50, 5 X 60

machine rows: 8 X 45, 8 X 70, 8 X 90

lat pulldown iso: 8 X 45, 8 X 70, 8 X 70

back extension: 8 X 25, 8 X 25, 8 X 25

seated hammer curls (really slow): 8 X 20, 8 X 25, 8 X 30

curl machine: 5 X 45, 5 X 70, 5 X 90

pullups: 3 X 10

decline situps w/ 25lb: 4 X 8

situp machine: 3 X 5

the workout didn’t take to long. probably no more than an hour but this still might be too much for one day. who knows….

I hit up the chest today and I felt pretty strong although my right shoulder was hurting fairly bad.  I stretched it out real good and by my last set on bench it didn’t hurt too terribly.  I skipped flyes and did some tri work instead.  Here’s what I ended up doing.

Bench: 10 X 135, 8 X 155, 6 X 175, 5 X 185   Bench felt easy enough even on my last set.  Maybe I didn’t lose as much strength in my time off as I thought.

Dumbell Incline: 5 X 45, 5 X 55, 5 X 65, 5 X 75  Last set of dumbell was pretty hard.  My right should was hurting pretty bad on this one.

After I attempted flyes I decided i would do some diamond pushups instead.  I just did 3 sets of 10 reps.

Next I came to dips.  I went to failure every set.  First set I did 16.  Second set I added 25 lbs and did 6.  Last set I did 12 with no weight.

To finish off I did some tri pushdowns.  I did 4 X 10

After my workout my tri’s felt really good and pumped up.  I downed a shake that I had made before the workout.  It was strawberry weightgainer, 1 tbs olive oil, 2 tbs ground flax, 1/2 apple sauce, some soy milk, and 5 g creatine.  It tasted pretty good although once I run out of the weight gainer I will not buy anymore.  I bought this a year ago before I knew much about nutrition.  Now I know it has low quality protein and WAY too much sugar.

Overall I’d rate the workout an 8 because I haven’t lost as much strength as I thought I had.  I also felt very energized after my pre-workout drink w/ caffeine.

Legs went well last night.  I replaced leg extensions with lunges with 80 lbs 3 X 10 on each leg.  Surprisingly I’m not that sore today.  Saturday will be chest and I can’t wait!!!!   (its my favorite part to workout.  My diet is going awesome.  I’ve been stuffing my self constantly for the past week and I will continue to do so.

Exegi monumentum aere perennius….the beginning

February 14, 2007

After 6 months off and a loss of 12lbs solid muscle I am getting back into lifting.  Before I was not dedicated enough to do the things that I am now willing to do.  I was never mentally strong enough to push myself to the limits.  I never had enough self-discipline to give it everything I had.  I never knew what giving it my all truly meant.  Now I do.  Follow along with me for the next year as I mold myself into a true bodybuilder.
