Germany has a great new hero in Matthias Steiner. Matthias won the super heavyweight with a 203kg in Snatch and 258kg in Clean and Jerk in a stunning come from behind victory. The favorite, Russia’s Vgeny Chigishev won the Silver with a 460kg total and Viktors Scerbatihs of Latvia won bronze with 448kg.

The Austrian native dedicated the victory to his wife Susann, who passed-away in a car accident last year.

Janos Baranyai a native of Oroszlany, competing in weightlifting 77kg class suffers a elbow dislocation while attempting 148kg during the Snatch lift. A brutally tough end to his first Olympics - good luck in your rehab and hopefully you’ll be back for the next Games.
