Powerlifting and Figure Competition I’m do’n both!!!

I have had a bunch of people ask if I will compete in Powerlifting any more. I am in fact moving over into the Figure competition but I am still Powerlifting. The figure competition will be in addition to my Powerlifting. I will still compete in the WABDL World Championships this November in Anaheim California. The dates I will be in attendance are November 17-19. If any of you live near by please come and watch the show. This is one of the biggest meets in the World. In addition to the WABDL I will also lift in the APF, AAPF, WPC, AWPC and the IPA next year. I will do two Figure shows next year too and no we do not know where they will be but as soon as I do I will tell all.
peace,
*BB*

    Hi Amanda,
I’m a big fan and admirer. I know you will absolutely ignore this feedback and go your own way - and i admire that too in you - but I do have to say that I think that the Figure world is a mistake. Your most special and unique appeal and one that will continue to pay off for you over time (in my view), is that you are so strong and yet so naturally healthy and fit looking. The Figure world, like the BB world, has really skewed toward ridiculously cartoonish images of overly muscular women with fake boobs and weird tans. Noone outside of that world and its small circle truly emulates or admires it. It is not, as some may say, that the world of today abhors a strong female image. That time is past. Female rathletes in many sports are widely admired but as athletes and as sex symbols. However, the BB, Figure and now Fitness worlds have become so ultracompetitive with respect to an aesthetic that is, for better or worse, so widely skewed from the norm, that in my view, it creates pariahs out of perfectly normal people. I always have loudly advocated the lifting of (heavy) weights and overall strength training for women and in you - as a way to increase confidence, strength and yes, even conventional good lucks. You are the perfect and most extreme example and I think that you your national and international celebrity will increase because of that. I would hate to see that wasted so you can excel, ever so briefly, in a much smaller and less healthy world/sport (Figure/BB). I’m sure a million people on this site will object but hey, I speak my mind and I hope that this can at least be appreciated. In any case I will be a fan of yours and wish you the best.

Sorry, one correction to a typo - I meant to say that female athletes are widely admired BOTH (not but) as athletes and sex symbols (and of course did not mean to imply that one necessitates the other but just that both can happen in today’s world and often do, often in fact, women are considered to be sex symbols BECAUSE of their athleticism). Thanks.

Good luck Amanda. I’m just happy that you’ll continue in powerlifting as you are such a natural. Figure will be a great challenge in and of itself. The competition can be very tough.
