What is it that you are doing?

I workout at home so I use dumbells for my workouts. If you’re using machines all the time try switching it up with dumbbells. Also you may not be lifting heavy enough. I find I can raise the weight on my back each time I work it. Also, how long have you been steadilly working out?? You won’t see results after a few weeks. Patience is a virtue. :)

Are you doing Pull-ups assisted or unassisted? You can also try face pulls which are like seated lat rows but you pull the cable to your face.

Some general tips with back training is to really make sure you are feeling the contractions, otherwise it’s easy to make your arms do most of the work. Try going kind of slow for a few weeks, and really concentrate on feeling the exercise in your back and not your arms.

Post what a typical routine looks like, and we’ll be happy to give you more specific pointers.

I know how you feel about not seeing results in your back. I came to the conclusion that I have "FATTY BACK SYNDROME" lol… My back is like my mid-section, carries more fat than the rest of my body and will probably be the last parts to lean out. I’ve notice though since I’ve started doing pullups a lot my back seems as though it may be changing now.

I’ll have to agree with BadKitty2 (OK typing that out made me laugh) Pullups are definately a great way to jumpstart your back development. But I will warn you, as great as they are they are not the easiest to perform. Assistance may be necessary in the begining, but if you stick with it, I can bet you will be pleased.

Thanks guys -i mostly do assisted pull ups, i also so the T-Bar machine and cable rows. i usually do 4 sets of 15 reps. It sounds like pull ups are the most popular response but they are soooooooo hard unassisted!
