She saved our sons life and jeopardized her own

Its one o’clock in the morning, I just got home from three days in the hospital with my wife. She has many more days in there and a long road to recovery. I’m too tired to write(havent slept since saturday) but I’m asking for everybody to say a little prayer for my wife. We went out off-roading Sunday with our friends from church that have jeeps. Not more than forty five minutes into the trail we decided to stop and have a little snack and take in the scenery. My wife decided that her and our son would climb up to the top of a rock formation, no more than 40 or 50 feet high. They made it to the top. While I took some photos, my wife made sure my son remembered on the way down to be very careful where he put his hands and feet. He’s only seven but just as adventurous and brave as my wife. She warned him not to grab or put his weight on something until he was SURE  that it would support him. It gets a little sketchy here but somehow a boulder from just above them started to break off and was heading directly for my son. My wife in the blink of an eye pushed him back against the rock face and ended up taking the boulder one on one. I’m guessing it weighed 150 or so pounds. Against her 130 pounds she didnt fare well. It knocked her backwards head frst over the side of the rock face and she plummeted to the bottom. And that big boulder, it landed on top of her left arm. At first we didnt know how bad it was, one of my buddies with extensive first aid knoledge tended to her while I raced like a mountain goat up the rock face to retreive my now traumatized son who just watched his mom fall lifeless to the bottom of the wall. Anyway, to make a long long long story short, my wife ended up severing her left arm from the elbow down. there were about two inches of skin holding it on. We made it out of there and to a hospital in about forty five minutes and got into surgery to re-attach the arm within 2 hrs. We were transfered to another hospital for the second surgery which was today and where we will have the rest of the surgeries. She has handled everything with more strength than I can ever imagine having. She willingly sacraficed her life to save our sons, as all of us parents would do. We have alot more surgeries and alot of rehab and therapy ahead of us. I’m hoping that anyone that has faith like I do will stop and say a prayer for her and ask God for a full and speedy recovery for her. And to give us the strength to get through this tough time.

And I though I was BIG!

I’ve done very good with my diet, my lifting is dialed in, in my opinion. The only thing I have slacked just a little on is my cardio. I have however, in the last week changed everything up and lifting just a little bit less, not losing intensity or weight just doing a few less sets, ok, a lot less sets. But, that seems to be the only way I can get in my cardio too. My biggest fear is losing muscle mass during my cutting. I knew it is inevitable at some point and today is that day of realization. I’ve only actually lost 3 lbs in the last two weeks. I have to think that because of my strength levels and my clean diet I have lost more fat than the scale says. My realization is that I now know why I haven’t finished a cut in the past. I got the tape out yesterday and even though I’ve dropped an inch and a half + off my waist, and I’m very happy with that, I’ve also lost size everywhere else…my arms and neck have both seen a loss of almost a half inch a piece. MY quads almost three quarters of an inch. I didn’t realize I was carrying that much fat!! :-(   This is the point everytime I’ve tried to cut in the past where I’ve decided that the size was more important than the way it looked…. I have to give BIG props to all the guys out there that have the size along with carrying low BF %’s. Its a tough thing to do! Especially when before your cut, you thought you were BIG!

I AM a world class bodybuilder and Personel trainer!

I am a WORLD CLASS Bodybuilder and Personal Trainer. Now before you click on my profile and go laugh your ass off for the statement that I just made, hear me out. For you Christians that are reading this (if anybody does actually read it) you will understand when I say that this was on my heart this morning and I had to share these thoughts.

I am a world class bodybuilder and personal trainer……………………in my mind. 

I will never be disgustingly freakishly beautifully huge like Ronnie Coleman. But I’m world class.

I will never step foot on a stage and compete. But I’m world class.

I will never have those incredible washboard abs like supermaine. (Good Job supermaine) But I’m world class.

I will never have the most popular bodyspace like BIG KONCRETE who by the way deserves major props for all the work he’s put in. But I’m world class.

I will never be a super hero personal trainer like I have heard stevep78 is. But I’m world class.

I am laughing a little myself as I write this. But let me tell you why I am world class and for that matter, let me tell you why YOU ARE world class too.

As my alarm clock was going off this morning at 4:45 a.m.  and I am hitting the snooze button for the second time, my wonderful 7 year old son, who unfortunately sleeps in daddy’d bed at leat four nights a week, (cant convince him that there aren’t any monsters in his room at 3:00 a.m.) he mumbles to me, half asleep, "daddy, you need to get up and go to the gym". I asked my son "why? , its early son and daddy is tired, I need a day off!" he responds to me, and only a parent I think can appreciate the feeling you get when you KNOW that you are your childrens heroes, but he responds to me "because daddy I want you to be BIG and STRONG!" Well, with that my butt got right out of bed, dressed and on my way to the gym.  This is the same kid that wants to hang on to my arms so I can get extra sets of lateral raises in(he actually thinks it like a carnival ride). The same kid that knows I want to be lean and makes me race him in the backyard countless times until we’re both out of breath and can barely walk. This is the same kid that makes me do sets of pull ups with him at night.  And I’m a little twisted, the kid can actually rep out more than me! HE WANTS TO BE LIKE DADDY! He is always asking me about macronutrients, why should he eat his protein on his plate first, why isn’t sugar good for our bodies?

To HIM I am WORLD CLASS!

I am NOT certfied personal trainer, but I train everyday. I am the guy the youngsters in the gym come to when they have questions about training, getting more size, getting more strength. I am the guy that the all my co-workers come to when they want to lose weight or start a training routing. A quarter of my day at work is filled with nutritional and training advice. I’ve seen some amazing transformations with these people. They have gotten on a path to health, listened to the advice that was given and the end results of these transformations is what gives me joy! When they tell me they’ve lost fifteen lbs. and feel good about themselves. When they tell me their bench has gone up 50 lbs. this is what puts smiles on my face.

To THEM I am world class.

If you are anything like me; you get up at five a.m. to make sure you get your workout in. And you dont jack around at the gym, you go there with purpose and focus and you grind out rep after rep set after set day after day then YOU are world class. If you go heavy and push yourself to the breaking point at the gym only to better yourself, every time you are there then YOU are world class. If you get upset with yourself when you slip up and eat some bad meals, if it ruins your day when you can get your workout in then YOU are world class. If you chug down your protein drinks, live on chicken and tuna, read the nutrion labels on everything before you eat it then YOU are world class. If you have a burning desire to transform your body and take action to achieve that transformation then YOU are world class. If you post your progress pictures(even the bad ones) on bodyspace and tell everybody that you have a goal and you are working your butt off to get there then YOU are world class. If you’ve ever taken the time out of your day and  helped somebody else with nutritional advice, training advice or just given them a little motivational pep talk to get them back on track then YOU are wold class.

YOU or I, we may never be as big as we want to, we may never be as lean and ripped up as we want to. We may never hit a stage and compete. We may never get that certification and work in the fitness industry like some of us want. We may even fall short of some of the simplest goals we set for ourselves physically. But I will say, that if we give it everything we’ve got even though we may not be genetically gifted, if we bust our ass every day, do the cardio that we dont want to, leave everything we have including and not limited to blood sweat and tears in the gym, then WE are all world class!!

 I wish everybody the best workout of your life today and may it only get better every day!!!
