Prayers Urgently Needed

May 8, 2008

I have a prayer request, if you don’t mind.  I’d appreciate it if you could add a prayer to your church list.

My 19-year-old daughter, Morgen Creighton is expecting a baby in late September or early October.  A couple of weeks ago, her baby was diagnosed with hydrops, which is a swelling of the skin around the baby’s entire body, as I understand it.  Anyway, they’ve given her baby a 5% chance of survival.  We are praying that whatever is causing this is treatable and that the treatment will be successful.  Knowing that God’s will is above all, we will accept His decision in any case.  However, we can use all that help we can get.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Life After Disney

July 2, 2007

I just spent nearly two weeks at Disney World in Orlando, FL.  It was a great trip.  We had lots of fun, rode a few rides, saw lots of shows, ate terrible, only workout was walking around the parks.  However, I am so glad to be home.  I know, I could have worked out while I was there.  I could have eaten better.  But I learned some things on my trip.  Fried foods make me feel terrible.  I don’t care if I drink another Coke as long as I live.  I am definitely lactose-intolerant.  Hot dogs are actually quite nasty.  The cafeteria in Epcot’s The Land building smells of hot dogs…ew.  Soarin’ over California was excellent, though, and made up for it!

Now that I’m home, I’m ready to get back to work, so to speak.  I didn’t gain any weight, but my waist crept up about an inch-and-a-half.  Vacations are nice, but being back home is wonderful.

Panic Attacks, Softball, and Spending Money

April 4, 2007

Today began as most days, with a plan.  Because it was a weight day, I had chosen to workout in the evening.  I planned on going to the photographer’s studio to choose senior portraits with my daughter and mother.  Then it was off to one bank to cash two paychecks and then to another to deposit the cash…I didn’t want a hold on my account.  Next, I had to get my hair done and then I would go back home, homeschool my younger daughter, make supper, and workout.

Well….apparently, God had other plans.  I made it to the photographer’s on time, and spent what for me is a lot of money…half my paycheck.  My older daughter had softball practice so she was going to follow me to the road she needed to turn onto for practice.  As I’m driving, my cell phone begins singing, "La La, La Lala La, you’ll be popular…" so I answer.  It’s Morgen (the older daughter).  Mommy, I’m hungry, will you buy me lunch?  Well, it’s hard to eat properly with fast food, but I agree to Taco Bell.  She got 3 beef tacos, beef and cheese only, hard shell.  I got 1 chicken ranchero soft taco, no sauce, please, and no cheese.  Rachael (the younger daughter) got a cheese pizza with bread sticks.  They had Pepsi’s and I had water.  I sit down to eat.  I want to add a little mild sauce.  There’s cheese on my taco.  I pick off what I can and eat my taco.  More money is now gone from my account.  So, we part ways and I head to my two banks and the hairdresser’s.  Fast forward an hour.  My hair is now gorgeous, so I decided to visit my cousin Kim.  She needs to see my hair.  So off I drive with Rachael, headed to Kim’s.  I call ahead.  No answer.  I drive some more.  I call again.  No answer.  Well, she likes to be clean, maybe she’s in the shower.  I’ll just drive by and see if her car is there.  It is.  She’s home.  She doesn’t feel well, so she wasn’t answering the phone.  She likes my hair and we sit around chatting for about forty-five minutes.  Her phone rings.  She looks at the caller ID and hands the phone to me.  It’s my mom’s office.  Hmmm.  So I answer.  I wonder why my cousin Jonathan is calling my cousin Kim from my mom’s office.  Jonathan begins talking fast.  Oh, it’s my daughter’s boyfriend Jonathan.  Why is he at my mom’s office.  My mom’s not even working today.  Morgen has been taken to the emergency room…he’s there with her.  Oh, okay, it’s my mom’s cell phone.  Got it.  I didn’t look at the number on the caller ID, just the name.  Morgen has had an asthma attack on the ball field and everyone has been trying to reach me for…you guessed it…forty-five minutes.  I have no cell service at Kim’s house.  So, I rush to the emergency room…thirty minutes away.  I get there and I’m told they cannot treat my daughter until I give them my insurance information.  I do so, and of course, pay a $50 co-pay.  I figure they’re going to run some tests.  My CT scan two weeks ago was a $50 co-pay.  So the doctor walks in, says that Morgen had an acute anxiety attack which presented itself like asthma, and that she should go home and rest.  That was it.  I paid $50 for them to tell me to take her home and put her to bed.  It’s comical.  I mean, I know that they have to be paid because they’re working.  I just wish they hadn’t taken her to the emergency room.  I wonder what the ambulance fee will be.  :P
