Yesterday (Sunday) I realized I was almost out of protein powder so I made a mental note to go to the store and get some. Well circumstances being as they were I got side-tracked and forgot to go to the store… SO, this morning I get up bright and early only to realize that I had only half of the protein powder I needed for my pre-workout shake… and no post-workout shake since I had to wait until the store opened to get resupplied… moral of the story, none, just that my mind ain’t what it used to be. In case you were wondering (come on now, you know you were) I have resupplied and I am good to go. Hope everyone has a great Monday!!

First the good news, I dropped my body weight by 5lbs over the past week, doing 2 x cardio routines per day helped I am sure. The bad news is that I also lost about 5lbs on my bench press, down to 275 this morning. Any suggestions on how to continue dropping weight without losing strength?

This site is great, it really helps to be networked with other people who love working out. Thanks for helping me stay motivated!!

Just finished my second iteration of cardio for the day, gotta love dropping weight. I hope to weigh in a little lighter tomorrow.. we’ll see. I only weigh myself once a week (on Monday). Tomorrow is also a chest day, since I have a goal to bench 300 by 1 Dec (a 20 lb increase) I am anxious to see how my progress is coming along. I fly out for Montgomery, Alabama on Tuesday morning, but not before I hit the gym… need to keep our priorities straight right? Still hope to hear from someone in the Montgomery area about gyms, found a couple online but nothing beats customer feedback. Time to get the grill fired up and take care of some chicken breasts.

Have you had to wait at the gym for a piece of equipment because the person using it was more interesting in jaw-jacking than actually working out? The gym I use is relatively small and does not have a wide variety of equipment (only one incline press and two flat benches for example). Having to stop and wait for equipment was getting to be a problem until I changed my workout time to the early morning, now only a few people are in the gym when I am and there is no more waiting… simple solutions to simple problems…

I was roaming through the forums and noticed a thread on thanking the troops. Well, for all of you who took (and still take) the time to send us cards and care packages…THANK YOU!! As a service member who has been to both Iraq and Afghanistan I can tell you first-hand that your gratitude is taken to heart and makes us work that much harder to ensure this great country of ours remains safe. Again, THANK YOU!!

Alright, so I have set some new goals. I want to increase my bench by 20 lbs, drop my weight by 20 lbs and take four inches off my waist… all by 1 Dec 2008. Any encouragement to help keep me motivated will be greatly appreciated as the next six months will be a very busy time for me professionally and I don’t want to slack off.

I will be heading to Montgomery, Alabama for six weeks, think I will check the forums to see if I can find a good gym to visit while I am there. If anyone from Montgomery see this, let me know if you have any suggestions for a good gym to visit while I am there.

So I have been hearing a lot about high intensity interval training and decided to give it a shot. I got on the life fitness summit trainer and did five minuites of warm up. Then it was time to get serious, for the next thirty minutes I did 30 seconds of full speed followed by thirty seconds of moderate speed. I felt good afterwards (tired, but good). Hopefully this is the kick I need to jump start my fat burning. We’ll see.

I was not really pschyed up when I went to the gym this morning. I knew I had been training hard and trying to watch what I eat but I wasn’t sure I was making any progess… that is until I decided to see what I could push up on the bench today. To make a long story short, I pushed up 280 this morning… while not a personal best it is the most I have been able to bench since repairing nerve damage in my right arm. Before the surgery I was lucky if I could push 185 without significant pain, and the road back from the surgery has been anything but easy. Bottom line - hard work does pay off. Set goals, and work to acheive them. It may take some time and there may be some distractions along the way, but by sticking to it you will achieve. my two cents…
