Bodybuilding? Who knows?

OK, so "back in the day" when Arnold was king, I used to peruse the mags and want to be a bodybuilder like him, Zane, Lou, Mentzer, Sergio, etc.  However, as time went on I was more sport focused for wrestling and bbing was not conducive to keeping my weight down, etc.  Then when I found out I had a few bad discs in my cervical spine and could no longer wrestle I took up powerlifting.  I’m 41 and PLing is a brutal sport if you train like I have.  I will do it again, but I’m considering bodybuilding as an alternative.  I love to be strong, but I also love to be lean and muscular.  I’ll be finished with my late-in-life master’s degree in May 2009, and maybe then I can focus on a BB contest.  You never know, I could be the next Jack LaLane!!!

I’d say you’ve got a pretty bright future in bodybuilding! I didn’t even start lifting till I was 45, but I’m having a blast catching up! Good luck to you man! ~Ray

I think you should go for it! Natural bodybuilding is challenging! It’s all about the journey. It takes a lot of will power, focus and dedication. It seems like you have all those qualities! When you finish with your masters degree (preparing for your next career, I’m guessing) find a great trainer that has experience training bodybuilders and DO IT!
