Hey Bodyspace,
It’s me, writing another post in the blog. We’re about five days out from the combine, and this week couldn’t get anymore hectic. Tonight, I’ll speaking at an Arbonne International meeting for National Vice President Maxine King. (If you haven’t heard of the company, go check them out www.arbonne.com), on the importance of detoxifying the body.
Today will also be my last full workout before the combine. The key here will be to get one last pump and push with the muscles, and to train for the 225 Bench press on Saturday.
I also just found out that there are two sessions on Saturday, a 1PM and a 7AM session. (I’m really not feeling that 7AM start time, I’m just not a morning person…..not to mention that I’ll be traveling down to Akron, OH the night before…..YIKES!) Please, please, please GOD don’t let me be in that 7AM session.
Oh well, whatever…..I’m not really nervous about going to the combine, I know I’m going to do well. The rest of the week will mostly consist of static and dynamic stretching and prep work on the tests and drills. (I’m even stretching my fingers to prep for the hand span test.)
A cool plus for me is that my wingspan is measured, and will count towards my size test grade. (This combine works on a 1 to 10 grading scale in categorizes of SIZE, STRENGTH, SPEED, QUICKNESS. Everyone who scores an 8.5 or better overall will receive an invitation to workout privately for NFL scouts!) Me not being the tallest guy, my wingspan and handspan will help me to score higher. I’m 5′8", and I have a 6′1" and my hands measure almost 9" from pinky to thumb, which is bigger than several guys who worked out at the CFL combine who were bigger than me.
The vertical, 40 yard dash, and shuttle are going to shoot my score through the roof. The forty isn’t FAT timed, so I’ll have an advantage there as well. Not to mention that it’s my best event. The vertical as well, with me jumping consistantly over 35", so it shows the scouts I can get up with the bigger guys.
The bench press was beginning to be an issue at the beginning of the year, but my training of the rear delts, lats, and triceps has taken much of the stress off of my chest. If I can get ten reps, I’ll be a shoe-in for the 8.5 score. (I’ll get it anyway, but doing that will only shoot the score higher.)
Anyways, gotta go, eating my second meal of the day.
Take care Bodyspace, and keep it movin’
