Cincinnati, here I come!!!!!!!

Hey guys and gals, it’s really starting to hit home as the days pass. THIS SATURDAY, I’ll be put to the biggest est of my life, physically. I can’t tell you all how fast my mind is racing at this present moment, thoughts at a thousand miles an hour. But I CAN tell you that there’s one thought that hasn’t crossed my mind recently, and that’s, "I wonder if I’m ready?"

As I think back over my entire life, there are flashbulb images of me preparing myself for this opportunity, the chance to pursue and capture a dream. I see times with my Grandfather, me on his lap, explaining to me how to deliver a wicked stiff-arm like Jim Brown, or that time during the beginning of my blog, where I puked up my breakfast after completing my last set of grueling barbell step-ups. Or all of those nights, as I watched people around me party, dance, club, or whatever, I made my nightly commute to the Grand River and ran along it’s banks. Not to mention doing 560 push-ups in a single day! (That was rediculous…..and definately NOT recommended LOL!) When I see those memories, there are my evidence that YES, I am ready….for whatever test, drill, one-on-one that they throw in my path. They will see the best me…..They will see a player that they will want as a part of their organization.

DTrek left me a comment yesterday, saying for me not to forget the little people. To her, and to all of you that I have come to meet through this forum, I say, How could I ever forget you? Because no matter where we go, or how great or small we become, we are all small peices to an immense puzzle of the universe.

So I have to give some special people on here some shout-outs!…..Mark (lilgymratt), thanks for crunching those numbers for me and helping me get that diet together, it means a lot! I still wish that I could get lats like your’s, but they’re coming. Rod (MTUNUPE56), "Spartans, eat a hearty breakfast, for tonight, we dine in HELL!" I hope you’re playing some ball out there in Cali and not getting lazy. Dawn Melanie (DawnMelanie), thanks for all the words of encouragement. You are going to be a winner at everyone of those contest that you enter, because you’re like me, more than a conquerer…Anthony (AtHead), thanks for the tips on the tests, and the late-night convos, you’re going to be playing in the league real soon, you got that lil guy on the way! Rasheeda (Ivy78), remember what Lao Tso said, “Be Content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” Everyone else on here seems to be content with what you have….LOL! But that doesn’t mean you have to be…..And last but not least, the person who I’ve messaged and has messaged more than anyone else, Lisa (Lisawannadance), you know you my girl, thanks for all the words of encouragement, funny jokes, and crazy pictures…LOL! To all the other people who have read this blog, visited my page, (Jenna1969, come back soon, we miss you!) Thank you for everything!

Grandpa, I know that you will be with me when I hit the field on Saturday, that’s when I feel you are with me the most, tell Nanna and Grandma I love them, and thank you for introducing me to the game I love. Heaven, here we go, babe! You’ve always wanted to see your daddy play football, well I’m going to do my best to give you that chance!

Steph, I could write an entire book about how I feel about you, and the love that I have for you. I remember around this time last year, you put a challenge to me, that I wouldn’t work for this to the very best of my abilities. Thank you, that conversation was the catalyst for all of this. I love you with all of my heart, and I can honestly say that all of ths years of my life before you, I was merely the just waiting for you to come my way…….Now, now my love, I am ALIVE! Thank you for your love, support, encouragement, backrubs, kisses, hugs, words of comfort, prayers, friendship, and your belief in me……I’m getting to shock the world, well everyone but you and I.

T-Minus Twelve Days….and Counting….

Hey Bodyspace,

This is my last week of heavy weight training workouts before I head of to Cincinatti, OH for my Edmonton Eskimos tryout on May 5th. That being said, I hit the gym pretty hard today, having to go without a spotter, but still putting in  HERCULEAN effort on the weights.

Today was a total body blitz, with me doing bench press and squats in the same day in I don’t remember how long, but the numbers were very impressive. Four sets of eight reps at 185, 205, 205, and a six-rep set at 225 at the end of my workout. (I think the push-ups didme some good.)

On the lower-body portion of the workout, I did squats, barbell step-ups, barbell reverse lunges, calf raises, and power cleans. The squats were quite impressive, with me doing eight reps with 315. (For some of you who don’t know or remember, I injured myself in late November doing heavy squats and that kept me out of the game for a while.)

The rest of the week’s workouts are very light, and I will be concentrating more on the football-related drills and test that I’ll have to perform. (For more clarity, watch the Jackie Battle Pro Day video in my faves.)

It’s really getting close, and I have to admit, I’m a little bit nervous about it. But I’ve been training for this day for my entire life, and because of that, I know that I’m as ready as I could have ever been.

Never Underestimate the Power of Love….

When I was ten, my Grandfather once asked me, whether it would behoove a man lead with love, or with fear and a strong hand. My response was, naturally, to lead with a strong hand, because those who feared you will always obey you. He told me that I was totally wrong, and that LOVE was the best way to lead, because LOVE inspires those who follow you to give you their very best. To lay all that they have on the line.

I understand completely the power of love now in my life. You see, it is love that makes me wake up at 5:45 some mornings and head to the gym, beating my body to a pulp. It’s love that comes here, everyday, rain or shine and checks to see if updated my bodyblog. It’s love that makes me want this to work more for her, the person who loves me more than she does herself, and has shown that to me time and time again.

To the woman I love, our lives are about to change, and I know that when it does, everyone will be looking at me. But they’ll fail to see that it was you who motivated me with your love all along……I love you Steph!

I had a really good workout today, getting back to my roots and hitting the home gym, worked out on upper body and legs, felt some really good gains and intensity in my workout.

Really busy right now, getting everything together, I don’t know if you heard, but I’ll be playing professional football soon! Nothing will stop me, because I’ve finally eliminated the only thing that has stopped me in the past, and that’s me……

The Long Road Back……Day Twenty-One

Hey guys,

Today, I only had arms and shoulders, but we made the very most of the time in the weightroom. I was handling some impressive weight on my overhead cable triceps extensions, and doing dips with a 45lb plate too. (I usually don’t do those like that, but I was in the zone so….)

My biceps made sure that they were not left out in the cold, with me doing a set of 8 reps of hammer curls with 50lb. dumbbells! That’s huge, such a major improvement from before….

The shoulder workout was quite solid, I did a set of 8 reps with 65lb. dumbbells. So that was impressive too…..

Tomorrow’s a leg day, so I gotta get in there and put in some quality work…so until then, keep it movin’ bodyspace….

The Long Road Back……Day Twenty

Hey gang,

I know I’m a little bit late with this post, but Monday’s workout was good! With an update to my work schedule, I had to do this one at the old home gym in the basement, but there was still some quality work put in down there. The bench press, and all the other supporting lifts went really well. So I was pleased, not only that, but it was quite late at night when I got it done…..

My time is coming up really close, less than a month away before the ultimate test drive…..

The Long Road Back…….Day Nineteen:

Hey gang,

Today’s workout went pretty good. I hit 225 for six reps on my second set, which is showing me that the push-ups are really coming into play for me. I got a chance today, to do some thinking and focusing on what lies ahead….I’m feeling really confident about how my tryout is going to go, just want to work on the actual tests that I’ll be doing, and once this blasted Michigan/Ontario weather clears up, I’ll be able to do that more….

The assistance workouts I did today are really seeing some great gains. Doing triceps pressdowns with 150lbs for ten reps made me feel like the big man on campus. (Me, the big man on campus, LOL! That’s pretty funny……)

But anyways, tomorrow’s lower body, and I’m all psyched up for that….

Hey gang,

I had a really great workout today, the push-ups are really helping with doing the push-up in-between my bench press sets. (Athead knows what I’m talking about…..) I’m starting to adjust to them so more, I think next week will be huge for me as far as the reps go…..Did Hammer Curls for 8 reps with 50s today, that was huge…..All in all, a solid days work….
