Hey Guys,
I made it to the gym INCREDIBLY early for me, because I’m totally not a morning person, but working a double-shift makes it a neccessity, so you gotta do what you gotta do. The Sixth Installment of the Big Bad Bench program went extremely well. I blasted through the 8×3 lifts, and completed 2×20 reps at 45% of my 1RM afterwards. The triceps, front delt, and rear-delt exercises went great as well. So now, I can go through the rest of my day feeling energized and refreashed…..
Until next time…..

Sometimes, I feel myself…struggling. Things inside and outside of my realm of control, seem to bear down on me like the very weights I lift each and every workout. To be honest with you, sometimes I ask myself, "Mike, is this really worth it? Is this something that is possible?" I mean, working two jobs, trying be there for my daughter, and basically rebuilding my life while, pursuing the chance of a lifetime….while having to battle against those who make it known that they think it’s not worth my time to pursue. It gets rough.
But then I remember a Psalm from the bible, where David says, "I lift up mine eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord." That causes me to shake off the negativity, and keep pressing on. Also, my Steph, and my Heaven, and my friends from Bodyspace, (big shouts out to all y’all…..) You help me keep the fire going….
But I have also come to rely on my own inner strength. Because in the end, when I step on the field, or the track to run my 40, on that vertec machine to do my vertical jump, or on the bench for my 225 test, it will be me and me alone…..
Something my Grandfather used to always tell me is….."Good things happen to those who wait, but GREAT things happen the those who PERSEVERE, because perseverance separates those who are willing to see something to the very end, from those who give in along the way…."
No matter how you’re feeling bodyspace, Keep it movin’…..

Hey gang,
I took measurements the other day, and I realized that my arms haven’t gained any muscle mass, but I’m stronger in all of my lifts…..What the crap! How can that happen? If you got any ideas, please leave a comment……
Having big arms is great for the appearance when I go for this tryout. I got five months to get it together….
Thanks Bodyspace….

Hey guys,
I didn’t make it to the gym Monday, because of the holiday stuff, you know, shopping, etc. So I lifted for my Big Bad Bench session 5 and lower body today. The new phase of my lower body workout is truly a killer. But you know me, gettin’ it done anyway and anyhow.
I couldn’t go any heavier on the floor bench press, so I was stuck at 295….which isn’t a bad thing for where we are right now. But I can’t afford to let that happen next week, so my supporting muscle groups will have to pay the price the rest of the week…..

Hey Bodyspace,
I just finished my 4th installment of the Big Bad Bench program, and I must say the Dynamic effort days do leave you a little bit fatigued. The lifts went extremely well, and I’m a huge fan of the Face-Pulls. (If you want to build up your back….try em’ they work!) The JM presses are nice too, really isolate those triceps, which are one of my lagging bodyparts.
I really wanna look put together when I go to this tryout. I want the scouts to say, "Oh my god, look at that guy over there….." So I’m going to try and put on mass and burn some fat simultaneously….(Any tips, please let me know….)

Hey guys,
I did only biceps today. It was kinda weird, because I never usually do just one bodypart a day, but with the bench press routines, and my bis being a lagging bodypart, it may work for me to put all of my effort into them for one day a week. I’m trying to get some guns like Cody Drew’s! (Nice pipes, man!)

Hey Bodyspace,
I had a pretty solid workout today. It was the first day I did squats since the injury. I didn’t go heavy at all, (4×6 @225), but it felt good to keep the workouts consistent…..
I’m still doing my "Operation 315" workouts until the 13th of January, then I’ll see if I can do it. If I can, I’ll be going back to my regular upper-body workout.
The lunges and step-ups were still done with dumbbells today, as I didn’t want to keep too much pressure on my lower spine….
Tomorrow is dedicated to my biceps only. It just works out that way with the Operation 315 workouts focusing on my triceps…..I have to keep the bis working too….
Until next time, bodyspace…..

Hey guys,
I got in town late last night, and worked out at a different Bally’s than I usually do, but I still got the work in that I needed to. The third workout of "Operation 315" went quite well, with me maxing out on the floor press at 295. (Not bad for a 160-pounder, eh?) I realize that I must strengthen up my lat/rear deltoid complex in order to move some serious weight. Maybe next year, I’ll go for 405….LOL! But for now, 315 is where my eyes are. If I can press 315lbs at this size, I’ll open a lot of eyes at my workouts……

Hey Gang,
I had a great workout Friday. It was my first lower-body workout since I injured my back. Doing some strategizing with my trainer, we opted to implement some HACK SQUATS and LEG EXTENSIONS, along with DUMBBELL STEP-UPS and DUMBBELL LUNGES to keep the workout intensity up, without puting the excess stress on my back. I was amazed at how much stronger my quads were in the leg extensions. I handled the maximum amount of plates that I could put on the machine, (225lbs.), and blasted out my four sets of eight reps.
I am eagerly anticipating Monday’s Upper-body workout, the floor presses will keep my bench press through the roof! So until then, have a great weekend, enjoy the videos I uploaded and, keep it movin’ bodyspace……

I watched, "Any Given Sunday" last night, just trying to mentally prepare myself for what lies ahead. I know that road that I’ve chosen to take is not an easy one to travel. Many have tried to my this journey, only to fall by the wayside. Their hopes and dreams, like carcasses, line the lonely road to my destination. One of the things that stuck in my mind was Al Pacino’s last speech in the movie, dubbed, "inches." In it, he says that those who are winners are willing to fight, die if needbe, for that inch, because that makes the difference between winning and losing. Between living and dying. So I had to ask myself, "Mike, are you a winner, or a loser? Are you living, or are you dying?" The answer was plain and simple, not only am I a winner, I’m a conquerer. I not only win, I obliterate my competition! And in order to be that conquerer, I have to prepare myself as such. So I can lift and run in the same day, I’ll squat till my back hurts, or do step-ups until I puke, because that’s where my victory is decided. It’s right here, and right now. The things I do today, put in me position to make those key grabs, throw that devastating block, run over a linebacker…..
So, if you read this for inspiration, I’ll leave you with this……Fight today, in whatever you’re doing, for that INCH!
