Continued succes!

April 19, 2007

Ok this will be short and simple.  I was thinking to myself today…..How is it that i can continue to have "success" at what i do???  Well first i had to define "success".  To me, it means a lot of different things, its not just one.  Anyhow, I realized that the way i progress in many aspects of LIFE, not just bodybuilding, is by being around people who are BETTER at what your trying to achieve.  For istance in my math classes, Differential Equations, Im not the best math student out there, infact i struggled through Calculus I and II, but made B in Calculus III, and Im the verge of making an "A" in DIFF EQ.  I realized the way that i bettered myself at the subject was to allow myself to be around people who had either already taken the class or were proficient in it already.  So i often apply this to bodybuilding, instead of showing off infront of people who may be "Smaller", why not work out with someone BIGGER than yourself, and allow that person to PUSH you!  I believe this has had a tremendous impact on my expeirence in bodybuilding.  I have always worked out with people that are bigger and stronger than I.  This does not mean you cant have the same WORK ETHIC!  They will just continue to PUSH you, allow yourself to be CHALLENGED, dont feel bad becuase you cant squat 500 lbs, get under 315 and BUST ASS and you will someday hit 500.  Anyways, Always look to better yourself, becuase if you dont, i can GUARANTEE there is someone out there who is Hungrier than YOU!

My choice

April 12, 2007

Today, as i am doing cardio, the thought of losing muscle races through my mind.  Now to any normal human being, cardio can be a great thing, but for a bodybuilder, it can be scary.  Now i know there is much debate on doing cardio on an empty stomach in the morning before breakfast.  I opt not to do this most of the time.  Being a natural athlete, it is even more crucial to time BCAA and protein consumption with cardio to optimize fat loss and sparing muscle.  Being "Natual" to me means, no drugs, absolutley none.  However, i do take creatine/zma/NO products/ and supplements that promote growth hormone.  This brings me to the point where i wonder, if i was to take something to aid in holding more muscle while dieting (winstrol, decca, and others), how much does it really do?  I have several friends who use steroids and I’ve seen them use and still lose muscle!  So it is my choice to stay drug free.  I am not against people who choose to use, but it is just not for me.  I have my own ideas.  Plus, i dont want to look like a popped water balloon when i am 60.

Thats all.

A difference in mood during contest prep

April 11, 2007

Its funny to me how one’s mood changes when dieting for a contest.  This is due to many factors in my case, additional cardio, meal preperation, lack of calories, school; since i am still a student, work, and stress of the show deadline.  Friends get neglected and the daily conversations get cut short.  It dawned on me the other day that the only "friend" i really associate with right now is who other than my training partner, also doing the same show and contest prep.  I often find myself "snapping" at people i really care for and an hour later, i realize it was uncalled for.   So is it that we get in such a bad mood that we scare our friends away, or is it not our fault and they just dont understand……… Whatever your reason, just remember that if you break your leg one day and cant compete on stage, you sure dont want to be alone.  So take a deep breath, explain to all your friends what your going through, and promise them the real "you" will be back lol.

im out.
