The good news: Medical report from recent physical was great! Bad news: Weight is fluctuating 10 lbs. on a regular basis - tired of losing and gaining the same 10 lbs. I know that the eating is the biggest problem. Workouts still consistent at least 3-5 times per week. I haven’t actually set goals and planned meals over the last year or more. I think this will help and keep me more focused. Can’t give up and most definitely can’t go backwards. Would like to lose a few more sizes in clothing. As always, I’m motivated by the people on this site, especially those friends that help keep me on track regularly. Moving forward…!

Keepin’ it real: I have a large gut complete with a dividing ridge - WTH? Anyone with this experience? Does it ever go away? What’s the result if it does. Anyway, the progress in upper and lower body is sabotaged by the mid-section that just seems to stay. Yep, I know it’s largely diet, but am I helping by doing additional abdomen exercises. I’m preparing to change the body-for-life model and begin doing cardio almost every day instead of 3 days per week. Also, since I’ve basically done the BFL model for a long time, I am changing up exercises, reps, weights, etc. to see if I can jumpstart. Finally, the diet - the big struggle: I definitely need to get back to trying to plan daily/weekly meals, and stop picking up stuff just because it’s there or because I can. I am so motivated by all the friends and others on this site, but just can’t seem to get over this hurdle. Can’t give up, though… Cardio - NOW!

Happy Father’s Day to all BS fathers! Forgot the fact that I wasn’t "beach-ready" yet and went to the pool anyway - lol. It was just shy of 100 degrees. It didn’t matter how I looked. Nobody cared. Plan to go back to day if it stays this hot. Still gotta step up the motivation to a greater weight loss. Workouts alone don’t do the job, although I still see progress. My friend that started me working out is in a town nearby and he is going to distance coach me, offer some accountability. My son, whose best friends are basketball and sugar-filled treats, challenged me to a "no-sugar" month, but excluded the 4th of July. Not to mention he treated me to dinner and we shared a cheesecake. I haven’t taken him up on it yet, but probably will after the 4th. Thx to all those who continue to motivate, inspire, and encourage!

I lowered the weights today and focused on hitting the target muscle groups. I can really feel the good soreness again. Think I may have been going too heavy and sacrificing form. (Comments welcomed). Eating today so far, so good. Still don’t seem to be losing weight, but still making progress otherwise. I know that’s the lack of proper and clean eating. Workouts this week have been good. Missed one cardio session that I plan to make up over the weekend. Checking BS regular for motivation and tips. So many people working so hard and progressing so well! Very encouraging!

I began doing some lifting again this week, along with cardio afterwards, for upper body only. The arm strain is better, but I have started over with lighter weight for now. Today is a lower day and intend to do cardio immediately after. Trying to avoid the scale for awhile, it’s going back and forth about 5 lbs or more each time. Not progressing as much as I think I should be, but still going to the gym as much as possible around working and family needs. The BS family of friends have been very motivational and encouraging; this is important as I try to continue the journey…

Did cardio every day this week since Monday. Did some minimal lifting upper and lower,(heavy weight, but only 1 set of 8-12 reps) just to keep it going. The arm didn’t get any worse, but not better either. Eating has been okay. Some desserts have made their way on the plate, but not a whole lot. Weight has fluctuated up and down about 3 lbs. during the week. Got accustomed to the new scale and shouldn’t do it, but it’s there. Can’t stop…

Well, the cardio-detox week didn’t go exactly as planned. Got in a total of 3 extended (above 30 minutes) intensive cardio workouts. I think I’ll carry over into another week, as the arm strain is not totally gone. Did one lower workout also this week. It seems like the ab/midsection is actually getting larger (considering what I’ve been eating, not totally surprised). Weight has been steady, though, up and down during the week. I haven’t slept much overnight just praying and thinking that this has got to get better to tackle some health issues before moving into the next decade. I’m going to have a limited free day today in honor of Mother’s Day, and really begin to get a grip on weight loss, in particular. Hope next week’s report will be more favorable. Progress pics (or lack therof) coming soon…

Got the new scale that measures bodyfat along with weight. Don’t know if this is just a calculation based on the BMI index or whether it actually analyzes body fat percentage as it changes. Any ideas? Also, the EAS myoplex shakes have changed the protein content from 42g to 25g? WTH? The price is the same with less protein, supposedly low-fat. Anyway, enough beefing. Planning to do a cardio and detox week beginning Monday - no lifting. Having some leg/arm pain beyond what is expected. Have made some new friends on the site that have been very encouraging and motivating. Still on the quest to move forward…

Today is an upper body day. Recovering from an arm strain last week, so may go lightly. Going to post a recent pic soon, but not pleased with the progress. Clothes can most def make the man, but the bare mirror tells the truth. Lost 9 lbs, but it was a wash. Gotta keep the weight going in the right direction - like down! Purchased a new scale; will see what it’s about - one of those higher end models that tells bodyfat, bone mass, and tracks differences in addition to weight. I will keep moving forward. Thanks to all of my BS friends for the motivation. It really makes a difference!
