Day 20, Power 90X

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today was my recovery day.  I kept my nutrition on track (2180 cal) and had an active rest day (yard work, etc.)

I hope that once I reach the end of this program that I don’t fall back into my old ways.  Last February I had progressed further than I have thus far and relapsed … I’ll have to come up with a plan …

Anyhoo, until next time …

Day 19: Power 90X, Cardio

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Hi everyone,

My nutrition was on track today (2330 cal).  I was struggling with staying on track as I was hungry much of the afternoon (although I pretty much ate a similar amount of food as usual).  Fortunately I’m only bringing a set amount of food to work so it helps me stay on track.

I decided to complete my workout on the elliptical machine (40 min) while watching "Biggest Loser".  I find that my workout goes by quite quickly when I can watch something I’m interested in.  When I see the struggles that some of the people on the show are going through, it makes me shudder.  It quite easily could have been me if I didn’t chose to take a different path nearly 20 years ago … by the way, that last sentence makes me feel really old!!

Anyhoo, I’d better get going.

Take care.

Day 18: Power 90X, Legs & Back + AB Ripper X

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today was a great day.  I was able to complete my workout and nutrition goals.  I’m really enjoying the Power 90X workouts and am improving on the AB Ripper X component as well.  If I keep working at it, I know I’ll be able to complete an ABS workout from start to finish.

As I mentioned, my nutrition was on target today as well (2030 cal).  I think that having the "cheat" meal on Saturday revitalized me.  While I know I went overboard, overall it worked out.

Anyhoo, until next time …

Day 16 & 17: Power 90X, Back & Arms + Cardio

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Saturday morning was awesome.  I went on the scale and discovered I’d lost 1% bodyfat over the past week.  :)   I completed my workout but was dragging a bit.  I think I really need the recovery week next week.  I had planned on having a small cheat meal on Saturday evening … well, I have no ideal how much I ate, but I know I went way overboard on the Mexican cuisine.  But rather than beating myself up, I decided I would move forward and do better …

Today I completed 45 minutes on the elliptical machine while watching Indie take on the Cardinals.  I was able to keep my heart rate in the target zone for much of the workout.  My nutrition consumption was light (1260 cal) owing to the fact that I wasn’t overly hungry this morning after last night’s binge.

Anyhoo, I should get going …  :)

Day 16: Power 90X, Plyometrics

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today was another great warm fall day.

This evening I completed the plyometrics workout.   I’m only able to do about half the workout but I’m gradually improving.

My nutrition was on track today (1960 cal).  I managed to consume 6 small meals relatively equally spaced apart.  I’ve been able to follow the nutrition plan for the past couple weeks.  Tomorrow I’m going to have mexican food and can hardly wait.  The trick will be not to overeat tomorrow.  :)

Anyhoo, I should get going …

Day 15: Chest & Back plus AB Ripper X

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today I completed the chest and back workout.  I never liked push-ups in school (largely because I lacked the upper body strength), but I’m starting to enjoy this part of the routine.  This program keeps pushing me to achieve personal bests … well worth the price of the DVD set!!

My nutrition was on track today (2280 cal).  I’m really happy with the meal plan I’ve been following.  I believe this program will be sustainable.

Anyhoo, I should get going …

Day 14: Recovery Day

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today went quite well.  I managed to keep my nutrition within my target range (2480 cal).  I really needed the day off after an intense 6 days of training.  My legs are still suffering from doms.

Anyhoo, I should get going to sleep …  :)

Day 13: Cardio

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today I chose to work out on the elliptical machine for a bit over a half hour.  I found that I was a bit sore from the legs workout yesterday (in a good way).  I’m happy that tomorrow is a rest day … I’m at the point I need a day off from my program to recover.

My nutrition was on track today (2280 cal).  This nutrition program seems to be working really well for me.  My focus for tomorrow will be not to over-indulge.

Anyhoo, I should get going …

Day 12: Power 90X, Legs & Back plus AB Ripper-X

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Hi everyone,

Today was an excellent Monday.  I was able to plan my meals yesterday and follow the plan today.  Hopefully tomorrow goes as well as today.  I had 6 small, relatively equally spaced meals (2300 cal).

This evening I completed the Legs and Back workout.  The wall squats and chair salutation exercises burned like *$&!.  It continues to amaze me just how well these workouts are put together.  I completed the AB Ripper-X workout as well.

Anyhoo, until next time …

Day 11: Power 90X

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Hi everyone,

I’m following the P90X classic plan, but I’ve decided yoga just isn’t for me.  I ended up spending a half hour on the elliptical machine watching the Cowboys and Giants playing this evening … a much better choice.  :)

My nutrition was on track today (1510 cal).  Overall I had a balanced diet, however I didn’t like having salmon for lunch.

This morning I was pleasantly surprised to find that I’m at 200.6 lbs and lost 1% bodyfat in the process.  I took my progress pics this morning and while I have alot more work to do, in perspective I can be proud at how far I’ve come.  When I graduated from high school I was over 350 lbs (I don’t actually know how much I topped out at since I stopped looking at the scale).

Anyhoo, until next time …
