What is Bodyblog to you? And the story of Josh….

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

That’s a serious questions to the public. What do you use it for? Motivation? Most of my blog updates have been motivating others to push through tough times whether in the gym or in daily life. I like helping others understand and realize that no matter how tough it gets out there in that harsh world of ours…that you have to keep pushing. You have to…you have to fight for every inch…every second, every breath. You fight until you have NO fight in you…and then you fight some more! Why give up half way…when you can make it to the top? Why stop and a take a breather..when you’re only inches away from the peak of the motuntain?

I have a small story to tell you guys about a visit with my dieing father (he has cancer) i had recently. He was at this hospital getting some number of tests done, and i was "exploreing" the hospital i guess, i came across this little kid(10 or 11) by the name of Josh. He was small, pale, frail, and had no hair from chemotherapy, and he had the BIGGEST smile across his face! This is a kid that is probably not going to live too much longer here….He was just as happy as can be. Me and him kinda became friends the whole week i was down there. We played checkers and colored in some coloring books. Josh is dieing of the same cancer my dad has…he probably wont be alive to see his 18th birthday, and that small, pal, fragile little kid has SO much fight in him. He will fight his little heart out. I left knowing that Josh had been given so much more fight. A couple weeks later (this past Monday actually) i got a letter in the mail from my Dad. My dad wrote to say how sorry he was for not really being around in my life when i was younger, and how if he could go back and change it he would. I started crying as i read the letter, and i got to the end and it said Josh the little kid i befriended was in ICU due to an infection he got while at the hospital. I read the words " He might not make it this time." And couldn’t hold back the rush of tears. And that’s where my little story ends. I don’t know how Josh is doing now…if he is alive or if he has passed. But he had more fight in him than any person in this world. I have some of the pictures he colored on my wall now, and i look at them wondering if that little boy is in a better place now.

Till next time…Maybe then i will have something to motivate the people…

ATK HAS EVOLVED

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

NO i haven’t lost my mind. I haven’t STOPPED training…I haven’t gave up on my dreams. My path has changed…i have evolved. I’ve been stuck being a bodybuilding robot for the past 2yrs…lifting…, eating, and sleeping(rinse and repeat you know the drill). I’m quite sick of it. I’m sick of watching what i eat as to not gain toooo much fat. I’m sick of training a way that will get me the most muscle fast. I was so dumb to think i would make top 3 in my first contest…I realize the chances of it are slim to none at my height and weight. I didn’t give up…though. I won’t be competeing this year, but i haven’t quite!

I haven’t given up all my dreams and hard work. The 20+ hrs a week i spent in the gym worrying about how i was going to gain "X" amount of muscle in a week. What i did wrong was follow conformity…i followed it to a tee. Day in and day out i worked..and i worked. Lifted..ate…slept. Nothing else…nothing! I have a small (very very small) social life outside of talking to my training partner in the gym. What i did wrong was worry about a contest…not about ME. The most important thing in all this. I will no longer follow the rules. I will no longer be a robot of bodybuilding.

I have so many ideas about training, about nutrition, about supplements. About everything! I can’t express my ideas if i have a contest coming up in 4 months…i have to stick to the plan…I have to if i want to win. Well….i dont want to win anymore…I dont want to be on top. In my eyes i have climbed that mountain…i have reached it and touched the top. I want to be dead honest with you people rite now. I don’t care what you think of me. I dont care what im suppose to look like to you. I don’t care if you dont like how i train, if you dont like what im takeing for supps, or the damn food that i eat. I am ME…I am the greatest. The greatest in MY eyes.

So no i wont conform…to this bb’ing routine day in and day out…I will not be training for a competition. I will be training for the damn sake of training and enjoyment. Which no one really does anymore….Everyone dreads legs days rite? **** it…Im gunna love them! Im gunna love every rep i push out…every freakin piece of KFC chicken i eat…every damn CEE pill i pop into my big ass mouth.

Expect more from me…expect my training to change as I see fit…my diet…screw it….ill eat what i freakin want too. I will train for function, strength, muscle, for me. If i gain a couple pounds of muscle along the way…good for me!!! I won’t step on a scale every week anymore…Once a month sounds good.

I haven’t gone crazy…i havent given up on my dreams. I have taken a step back and looked deeper into things.

Love me or hate me…..It makes no differences to me.

GOALS

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

We shoot for a lot of things in life…to win the lotto…get rich..have a family and live in a nice house right? Those are great goals to aim for, but are we aiming too high? In my honest opinion..I think we are. You see when we dont accomplish those higher goals set…We get let down. Then we don’t feel the need to set any goals really. Too bad we can’t live without goals. We need them to survive. Think about it…If we didnt have goals everyone would sit on their asses all day not giving a damn about what’s going on around them. There’d be no rich…or any poor people in the world (wouldnt that be nice). But on a bad note…NOTHING would get done without those goals.

I say…Make goals. Make them everyday. Set a little goals for yourself the day before..then the next day set out to accomplish that goal. It brings a good feeling to yourself when you’ve completed something you’ve set your mind too. I can assure you that you’ll get crap done when you’ve your mind on the task at hand. You don’t eat breakfast? Make it a goal to eat breakfast then. You wanna bench 300 lbs? Make it your goal….

One thing to remember. Not all goals will be accomplished in a day…some may take days..months..maybe even a couple years. But if you set your mind to it…and you honestly want it. You can get it!

Accomplishments……and a little bit of Life

Monday, June 25th, 2007

How do you feel when you hit that last rep? On that last set? How does it feel to wobble around the gym after a great leg workout? Good don’t it? I know it sure feels that way to me :D

But what about the little things? What about just wakeing up every morning? Do we take the little accomplishments in life for granted? Think about…You don’t think twice when you breath…when you take that step out of your house on your way to work in the morning. Are you happy to be alive?

I wish people would be more aware that life is short…maybe we wouldn’t have all this killing and fighting that we have goin on. Can’t we all just agree to disagree? I say celebrate EVERYDAY like it’s your last on earth..like the worlds gunna end tomorow. Live it!! When you get in that gym…lift like it’s life or death…likes theres no tomorow…celebrate EVERY SINGLE thing you do in that gym…in your life…no matter how small it may be.

We take life for granted….we take a lot of everything for granted. Don’t. Don’t be scared to take that extra step foward…dont be scared to push yourself to the limits…to the edge. Go for it! What’s stopping you..besides yourself? NO ONE! Don’t let anything…or anyone stop you from reaching your goals…or you’ll NEVER EVER EVER reach them.

Writers block has kicked in…lol Pt.2 sometime tomorow. :)

The Mind…The Muscle….The connection……Pt. 3

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Phew…Part 3! This will be the last part to this "mini" series i got going. I hope everyone that has read this…has enjoyed it, and has took some of my words to heart. :)

How do you lift? Are you heaving the weight up, and cheating for every rep? If you are…you have what i liek to call…an "ego issue". Drop it…leave that ego crap at the door. You don’t NEED it! A big ego will only get yourself hurt..both mentally, and physically (sp?). When you lift..I want you to focus every ounce of energy you’ve got on the muscle you’re working. Feel each muscle fiber fire away…feel the burn! Put yourself into a "cool" state of mind. What i mean by that is…Lets say as an example you’re about to squat 315lbs for the first time. How many 45lbs plates are there altogether? You would count and say 6 rite? I say you’re wrong….there’s 4…hell maybe even less. Focus your mind to think that 315lbs is some other number…a lighter weight. You’ll get 315lbs like nothing, and you’ll be so riled up that you’ll want more..guess what?! You’ll get! You’ll get every freakin set when you’re focused to that extent. Try it out..and let me know how it goes..It works for me EVERY TIME, but to the skeptics..try it.

Cliffs:

1.Focus focus focus…i can not stress this enough.

2. It ain’t 315…its 225…set your mind to a lighter weight.

3. Keep pushing yourself no matter what.

4. Bodybuilding is hard work…so get use to the pain.

5. Get into the mind-muscle connection……i guarentee you’ll see trmendouse growth when you focus that hard.

6. Most of all..Have fun! Enjoy this great sport! :)

Till next time…(if you got any suggest on a topic i should write about next..let me know…i’d be glad to)

The Mind…The Muscle….The connection……Pt. 2

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

As we train our goal is to have some type of positive "impact" to our bodies. Whether it be gaining muscle or loseing fat. We need to see it to believe it rite? What if you looked ahead, and saw your perfect self…all ripped and bulging with muscles you’ve never even seen? I try to visualize what i want to look like when i train…I think of the muscles that i want to be huge/showing to their full potential.I can see a six..maybe eight pack, huge delts, thick almost godly pecs, and legs to go with it all. I see myself being at the top! You gotta visualize what you want your end results to be….When you train..train with full on intensity. FEEL each and every muscle fiber contracting…..ignore the burn. "Pain is just weakness leaving the body." -(i’ve seen that quote so many times) Your muscles hurt from a previous workout? DEAL….You wanna reach your goals correct? Push yourself to it! Don’t stop just because your’re hurting a little (unless its really an injury)..you’re not a wimp! You’re a GOD/GODDESS! You are #1 to you..don’t listen to anybody else when they tell you..you can’t make it. Because you can…and you will. Have faith…times will get rough, and you will feel like quitting.

Don’t…don’t ever quit. It’ll just prove that you couldn’t make it. There will be people in this world that will put you down time and time again. Ignore them…better yet use it as fuel! Proveing others wrong can make for some great motivation in the gym. I know i’ve done it a few times myself. Someone piss you off? Don’t get mad at them…go in that gym and get mad in there…Lift your anger away!! I bet you will feel some much better after.

Pt. 3 tomm…i’ve got some studying to do. :)

The Mind…The Muscle….The connection……Pt. 1

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Your brain pretty much controls what..and how you do something. Could your mind be holding you back from reaching your goals? It very well could be…your brain is a very powerful tool when harnessed and used to its full potential. Most of US don’t really associate our minds with lifting. We just go in there and do it..rite? How did you gain the confidence to bench press what you do now? Or even squat? You siked yourself up rite? You went in there..looked at that weight (whatever it may be) and said today is the day…I’m going to either lift this…or die trying. Guess what?…You did it! You killed that weight…straight murdered it! What’s next…YOUR NEXT SET OF COURSE! And you don’t even need to get all siked up again..and after pulling off that first set you’re ready for them all!!!!

Im tired/wore out….Till next time!!

ralph4u2c says to  (18:07):
train as hard as possible because with the boost and energy from RPM, and the stupid quick recovery from ebol and EAA u could pack on a few solid pounds and strength through the roof
