Thirteen of the greatest pound-for-pound deadlifters in the world assembled on the Main Arnold Expo stage. The MHP Strongman Challenge got the crowd fired up for some big time earth movers, then the set was quickly changed for the IPF GNC Pro Performance Deadlift Competition. Backstage was crazy. All of the pro strongmen were getting changed, hanging out and talking with one another, meeting some of the deadlifters, etc.
You had probably 25 of the strongest men in the world assembled right there in the back stage area. There were so many freaks around that the air was electric with what was happening.
The Warm up area was a bit cramped with all of that mass in one area, but things were running right on time and the warmup pace was fast. The show started right on time with the ladies and the fireworks started immediately.

Jim Boyd has enjoyed every Arnold Pump & Run he has ever run. He competed in his 4th annual competition in 2009 as runner #257 and this time he led his entire family through the streets of Columbus. Boyd’s physicality sets him apart from many of his fellow Pump & Runners.
With a background in lifting and bodybuilding, Boyd has an upper body that would rival many of the competitors on the Arnold Amateur stage. As a Phys Ed Teacher in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, he inspires his entire student body to shape up their family and their community.

Cathy LeFrancois, a good friend of mine who was the one that really pushed me into competing after a 10 year lay off was training at Golds Venice 2 weeks out from the Arnold. Cathy was her normal contest, which means in great condition.

Cathy said she has started increasing her food intake now with 2 weeks left to go. She explained that she always comes in ripped but this show she wants to be both bigger and fuller while still showing geat shape and condition. In one week we’ll see if her plan pays off in Ohio.

For the past eight years the strongest men in the world have come to Columbus Ohio for the Arnold Strongman Classic.
Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania has won every Arnold Strongman Classic competition except for the inaugural event in 2002, which was won by former Olympian and current pro wrestler Mark Henry of the United States. This year a new champion will be crowned because Savickas, who will appear as a judge, will take the year off from competition.
Also on hand will be strongman celebrities Bill Kazmaier, one of history’s strongest men; Magnus ver Magnusson, four-time winner of the World’s Strongest Man contest; Vasyl Virastyuk, past winner of both the World’s Strongest Man contest and the IFSA World Championship; and Mark Henry, who has the highest Weightlifting/Powerlifting combined total in history.
